Design, Quality and Speed

Stylish design with incredible detail

Perfect for the budget conscious this simple, compact All-In-One is easy to set up and is ideal for everyday printing, scanning and copying. Designed to print documents, web content and photos quickly and easily, the affordable MG2150 combines exceptional value with signature Canon image quality, allowing you to use the printer efficiently, as often as you like.

Thanks to the 2 picolitre (pl) ink droplets from Canon's class-leading FINE (Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) print engine which delivers an astonishing resolution of up to 4800 dpi, the MG2150 produces vivid, detailed photos and crisp text. It can print a 4” x 6" (10 x 15 cm) borderless photograph in 44 seconds, giving you superior photo-lab quality output at speed.

All PIXMA printers come with genuine Canon inks already installed. For frequent users, replacement Canon ink cartridges now come in XL sizes which let you print more pages and offer substantial savings over standard tanks.

The MG2150’s document print speeds are also impressive with 8.4 IPM* in black and white or 4.8 IPM* in colour.

Ease of use

FastFront design means it can sit discreetly anywhere

The FastFront feature makes replacing ink cartridges and loading paper quicker and easier because it can all be done from the front. Introducing this feature not only makes life easier when using the printer on a daily basis but it has also allowed the printer to be redesigned so that it is more compact. This enables it to be placed closer to a wall or on a shelf because it takes up less space.

Easy to use straight out of the box

To reduce power usage and to ensure there’s no waiting around, the MG2150 incorporates Quick Start functionality. This means that there is no need to wait for the printer to ‘warm up’ resulting in near instant operation - perfect for those in a hurry.

Quick and easy with Auto Scan

Premium quality up to 1200 x 2400 dpi scanning is quick, simple and easy with the integral Auto Scan Mode. It detects your original, e.g. photo, business card or letter, then automatically scans and saves the image with the appropriate settings, all without any prompt from you. You can also scan directly to a USB stick or memory card to quickly share scanned files and with the included Canon MP Navigator EX software you can convert hardcopy documents to searchable PDFs and add password protection.

Additional features and benefits

Capture stills from your movies with Full HD Movie Print

Turn your movie moments into beautiful prints with Canon’s unique Full HD Movie Print**. Get the best of both worlds by producing high quality individual photos from your favourite HD home movie moments. Printing a photo using Full HD Movie Print couldn’t be easier. Simply select a frame from your movie using the intuitive Easy-PhotoPrint software and print. As you do this, frame enhancement technology will automatically analyse the frames either side, combining the best from each to ensure that lighting and resolution are as good as they can be in your final photo.

New features include Merge Frames and Layout Print. Merge Frames allows you to overlay multiple stills to give a sense of motion in your photo and Layout Print lets you choose a short movie clip from your archives and applies a comic-strip effect so that you can create a storyboard from your movie.

Apply creative post-production techniques straight from the printer with Fun Filter Effects

Make your photos even more exciting by applying Fun Filter Effects with Easy-PhotoPrint EX. With a host of exciting effects to apply you can adapt your old photos to create a whole series of new ones from your original stills.

Highlights include ‘Blur Background’ which allows you to add a retrospective artistic blur to your subject’s background, ‘Fish Eye’ effect which applies a wide-angle lens effect to create a unique distorted version of your original photo and Miniature effect which applies a selective focus to scenes to make full-size, real life subjects look like miniature models (much like tilt-shift photography).

Explore your creative side with CREATIVE PARK PREMIUM

Millions of users have already discovered the benefits of using CREATIVE PARK to download templates to create calendars, greetings cards, scrapbooks etc. Purchasing the MG2150 gives you access to the exclusive CREATIVE PARK PREMIUM service. Here you can access premium artistic content such as professional photography and illustrations which would normally be rights protected. If you carry on purchasing genuine Canon inks you will be able to continue to enjoy these exclusive benefits.

Automatically correct your images with Auto Photo Fix II

Based on Canon's market-leading intelligent camera technology, Auto Photo Fix II with Red-Eye Removal and Multi-zone Exposure Correction is perfect for your home photo lab as it automatically fixes your photos at the printer, giving you flawless results without the need for a computer.

It also categorises your images into one of five types - Portrait, Scenery, Night Scenery, Snapshot with Scenery, and Snapshot with Night Scenery - then applies optimal image and exposure correction. This means that unexposed areas of the photo will be optimised area by area, plus faces that are backlit and under-exposed will automatically be brightened with correct colour cast to help ensure more accurate skin tones creating beautiful images.

Control your web printing with Easy-WebPrint EX

The Easy-WebPrint EX software helps you organise the information you want to print from the internet, avoiding wasting paper by printing the details you don't need. These include:

  • Auto Clipping - print only the area of a web page you want
  • Clip from multiple pages - collect, combine and edit content from multiple web pages before printing

You can also print with an enlarged text size or reduce the size of the whole web page to fit it onto a single piece of paper for printing.

Genuine Canon Inks and Paper

ChromaLife100 is a system that preserves the lasting beauty of your photographs when combining genuine Canon products: your PIXMA printer, ink and photo paper.

Light, heat, humidity and gases in the air can all cause photos to fade over time, whether they are silver halide photos or inkjet photos. Canon has developed ChromaLife100 to help inkjet photos withstand environmental conditions for more than 100 years.

ChromaLife100 is a system in which photo paper, inks and print head work together to produce long-lasting, beautiful photos.

Print head: Speed and quality

All PIXMA printers use Canon’s exclusive FINE print head technology. Microscopic nozzles fire off tiny micro-droplets with pinpoint accuracy. Smaller nozzles mean more of them can be packed onto the print head, so higher speeds can be reached with no compromise in quality.

Photo paper: Instant dry

The FINE print head is so quick you need paper that can keep up with it. Genuine Canon photo papers have a micro-porous coating that quickly absorbs ink deep below the surface – away from the gases and light that cause fading. So you get quick-dry, colour-fast, glossy photos that can last a lifetime.

Inks: For rich, accurate colours

FINE micro-nozzles need exceptionally pure ink to avoid clogging. All genuine Canon inks are manufactured in a controlled, dust-free environment. They are specially formulated to resist the gases in the air that cause fading. High optical density ensures a wide and accurate colour gamut.

*Printing speeds explained: Canon measures its printing speeds in IPM (Images Per Minute). IPM is an ISO speed testing standard, approved by the International Standards Organisation in March 2009.

PPM (Page Per Minute), used by some manufacturers, is not a standard for inkjet printers. Every printer manufacturer has their own ‘test pages’ that are used to test speed and give vastly different results. The new ISO standard sets standardised ‘test pages’ that are to be used by any manufacturer measuring their speed in IPM, allowing comparable results across inkjet brands.

**Full HD Movie Print - Only compatible with selected Canon Digital Still Compact and Digital SLR cameras.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good and Bad 16 Oct 2012
I bought this printer as I needed one quickly to print off some documents, and I just wanted a bog standard one to print off simple black and white documents with no graphics. In hindsight I think I should have shopped around a bit more to see what else is on offer.

Overall this printer has a lot of good points but also bad.

Good:

1. The paper never seems to get jammed or stuck. Maybe I have been lucky but it seems to be good at picking up one sheet at a time and not jamming. I have used both paper and labels, and the label sheets have been through a few times and gone a bit curly, but the printer still picks them up.
2. Easy to set up, I just plugged it in and off it went. Windows 7 even installed the drivers so no need to put the CD in.
3. The top of the printer has a scanner - I haven't used that so I can't comment on what it's like. But it's great for storage as you can pop things on top! I keep my spare paper and labels on there. My last printer had the feed on the top so you couldn't store anything on top of it.

Bad:

1. Ink usage. Oh how I wish I looked into this before I bought it. Canon say it will do 180 pages on a regular cartridge... not on mine it won't. Maybe I print things with a lot of black, but I estimate I have printed about 200 pages and I've just finished my second cartridge. Which cost about 13 each. So that's about 13p per page. Not cheap.
2. Colour ink usage. I only print in black and white. When I noticed after printing a few pages that some of the colour ink had gone too, I realised it was using both cartridges to create the black colour, so using up even more ink!

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value for money 1 Sep 2012

Very pleased with our Canon Pixma, it came very quickly and was easy to set up and even easier to use. The print quality is great for text and photcopying although not the best photo quality ive seen. Having said that it was easily as good as our previous Epson photo printer.... A worthy 9/10.

GOOD PRINTER FOR THE PRICE. I HAVE HAD NO ISSUES WITH THE ACTUAL MACHINE OTHER THAN THE USB CABLE DIDNT COME WITH IT AND I HAVE HAD TO BUY A NEW ONE. WOULD HAVE BEEN USEFUL IF THIS HAD BEEN OBVIOUS WHEN PURCHASING.

MY MAIN COMPLAINT IS THAT I DIDNT REALISE THE INKS WOULD BE SO EXPENSIVE! HAVING HAD CANON PRINTERS BEFORE I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ABLE TO GET COMPATIBLE INKS FOR A DECENT PRICE. HOWEVER THERE ARE NO COMPATIBLES FOR THIS MG2150 YET AND A COLOUR AND BLACK INK WILL SET YOU BACK AROUND 32

5.0 out of 5 stars Good & cheap 3 Jan 2013
By Paul
We replaced a HP printer that just went hay-wire and this MG2150 was a worthy replacement!
It is cheap but you get a good printer, people who moan about the ink price should check before they buy and not moan after buying one....

We have had ours 6 months with varied use and only just replaced the cartridges with XL ones which are more cost effective.

We did not buy the printer through Amazon but we get our cartridges from them.

We recommend it to anyone who wants a general purpose printer that also does a good photo too.......

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Value For Money 16 Dec 2012
By BinkyUK
I bought this to replace my old broken Canon printer. It was very easy to set up and is compatible with Windows XP (Which I use)
It's very neat looking as the paper loads from the front, not from the back like some printers. The ink tanks are easy to load from a panel at the front.
It comes with both black and colour ink cartridges and a power cord. It does NOT include the USB cable which you will have to purchase separately. I just used the one from my old machine and this was fine.
The printing quality is good although it does seem to be a little noisier than my last printer, but I'm not going to moan about that at these prices!!
Overall I am very happy with this item.

3.0 out of 5 stars A decent machine but ... 23 July 2012
With a couple of reservations this is a good piece of kit for the money. It installed easily on my Macbook Air and my wife's Compaq Windows Vista laptop and it does everything competently. However I have one minor moan and one major one. The minor moan is that it isn't possible to download a copy of the user manual. My Macbook doesn't have a DVD drive so I can't use the supplied CD Rom. The driver software downloaded quickly and easily from the Apple site but the manual isn't available either there or on Canon's own website. The major moan is the same as one of the other reviewers - the hefty cost of the ink cartridges. I bought the MG2150 in a hurry following the death of my existing printer at a highly inconvenient moment. If I'd had more time for research and if I'd realised just how dear the ink is I'd probably have bought something else. Fingers crossed that compatible cartridges soon become available.

4.0 out of 5 stars MG2150 12 Feb 2012
Verified Purchase
I wanted a relatively cheap non-wifi all in one printer scanner.

I did not think Amazon gave clear specifications so one knew exactly what one was buying.

2 things initially irritated:
1. there was no usb cable so one had to use an old one
2. the disk was programmed for Windows 7 and not XP - why do they always assume that one is dragooned into buying what MS think best? However it turns out that one can use the disk with XP.

Having persevered, now it is so far so good but printers without rear paper feeds are not good for photographs.

I am also concerned that there are only 2 cartridges but time will tell. All reviews need to be updated!

Am very pleased with MP560 after several months working!
