Ink is right at the heart of photo printing and as a result all PIXMA printers come with genuine Canon inks.
The quality of the ink you use can make the difference between dull or vibrant colours, between blurry or sharp photo prints and between prints that fade easily and those that keep their quality for a lifetime.
Black ink in particular is a key factor when producing accurate image density and contrast. Historically, creating perfectly colourless neutral black with inks is extremely difficult but Canon have successfully brought the tone of its black ink closer to neutral improving its visual blackness.
As you can see, Canon spares no effort in developing the inks and systems that deliver the quality prints your photos deserve. In short, genuine Canon inks are the lifeblood of your PIXMA.
For frequent users, selected Canon ink cartridges now come in XL sizes which let you print up to 3 times more pages (page yield of up to 600 pages) whilst offering 50% cost saving* per a page (over standard cartridges).
PIXMA Photo Printers and All-In-Ones are very sensitive when it comes to ink:
Our genuine Canon inks have been developed to meet each of these demands, print after print.
Although all photographs fade, Canon inks are engineered to minimise the impact of light and gases in the air. In general, dye ink molecules are susceptible to deterioration due to chemical reactions with light and gas leading to reductions in image quality. However, genuine Canon inks have been engineered so that the molecular structure of the dye reduces decomposition from light and gas and thus reduces image deterioration. Although all photographs fade over time, photographs printed with genuine Canon inks last longer and are more resistant to fading.
Most Canon PIXMA products form part of the ChromaLife100+ system, which means that the inks, paper and print head all work together to provide you with beautiful, long-lasting prints.
It’s all too easy for photos to become faded and lifeless – spoiling your memories in the process, but when you combine genuine Canon inks with Canon’s ChromaLife100+ system, you can produce photos that stay vibrant, colourful and fresh-looking.
The ChromaLife100+ system uses three elements:
Together, they can protect your precious photo prints against all the normal causes of photo fading – light, high temperatures, humidity, and environmental gases – for generations.
The Chromalife100+ system can deliver:
So in the future, and for generations to come, you and your family can look at the photographs you’ve taken and they will look as good as they did when they were first printed.
Canon developed the world’s first nozzle production method using light, based on photolithographic technologies and has since perfected this ground breaking technology (now known as FINE - Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) to offer outstanding image quality.
The FINE high-density print head engineering technology uses high-precision nozzles, the latest semiconductor manufacturing and ink ejection technology to deliver accurate ink placement at astonishing print resolutions of up to 9600 dpi resulting in high quality, high contrast photos.
Canon's High Performance Single Ink System means that when one colour runs out you only replace that ink tank instead of replacing an entire multi-coloured cartridge and wasting the other unused ink. Couple this with Auto Duplex Printing which allows printing on both sides of the paper and you can save money, reduce your paper consumption and help the environment in the process – all without compromising on print quality.
*Based on Canon RSP, compared to equivalent standard Canon cartridge in that category, using ISO/IEC24712 & 24711 inkjet page yield standard
