A review of the actual PRODUCT,
By
This review is from: Canon Original CLI-521 Multipack (cyan, Magenta, Yellow) (Office Product)
Usually I don't review products that have a lot of reviews already as it's normally the case that everything that needs to be said has been said, but in this case that is simply not true. Most of the top rated reviews talk about the price of the cartridges or advocate generic stock instead. To me, that doesn't say much about this product.
I bought these replacements for a Canon PIXMA iP4700 printer. As a photographer, I use a colour-calibrated system and I need the final printed result to match the colours on the screen. The drivers for my printer include ICC colour profiles for Canon inks and papers, and the iP4700 is capable of using the Adobe RGB (1998) colour space, which is the colour space I work in with my photographs. So why would I want to mortgage the quality of my prints by using third party inks which the drivers can't account for in terms of colour management? If that was all a foreign language to you, the short version is that the printer creates specific colours by mixing inks according to a recipe, and if it doesn't know what the ink is that you've put in it then that recipe will be wrong. If colour accuracy is important to you, use genuine inks. On to the physical aspects of these cartridges - I am quite pleased. They have a window that spans the entire depth of the cartridge so you can see clearly that new cartridges are full, and used cartridges are indeed empty. They also have a clever sponge-like material inside them which ensures that when the last of the ink is ready to leave the tank, it stays over the exit nozzle instead of pooling somewhere else inside the cartridge. These cartridges are easy to fit, robust, and fairly economical. They may cost a bit more than generics but for the reasons already stated, I'm happy to pay a couple of pounds more to get the best possible results. What would make them even better is if Canon implemented a system for returning spent cartridges, as some other manufacturers do.

Just what I needed,

As my Canon printer refuses to use anything but genuine ink cartridges I have to purchase them as cheaply as possible and that means going to Amazon. Nobody else
can touch Amazon for price or service.

It is 10 years since I used a Canon printer and i am pleased to say they still produce a quality product. The inks ordered have produced good results and I commend them to serious colour print users who need true, rich colours that last.
