I bought this as i have couple of canon lenses that i bought for my 650D which i wanted to use with my Eos M. It's solidly constructed and the tripod mount is easily attached and detached. With the Eos M firmware update the focusing speed is now on par with the 650D. Not really much else to say. If you have compatible Canon lenses and an Eos M it's a great way to make use use of lenses you already own. Pending the release of dedicated M lenses it's the best way to maximise the Eos M's potential.

It's made by Canon so it's not cheap....but you can appreciate the quality immediately. If you own an EOS M and have some Canon lenses for your DSLR, this piece of kit is a necessity! It makes the EOS M an even more brilliant camera.

I originally wrote a negative review of this adaptor because, although it fits snugly to the EOS-M, it was "impossible" for me to correctly seat a Canon EF lens (I was using my trusted and true 50mm 1.4 USB). The attached EF lens wouldn't focus nor take a picture, and didn't have that comfortable click when turned to what I could see was the correct mount position.

At first the adaptor wouldn't accept the 50mm at all. I've been using cameras, and particularly Canon, for many years, so am really familiar with how to fit a lens, and have never had to struggle and use force to get a lens to seat properly to the camera. It took quite a bit of effort, but after trying this a few more times I was eventually able to get the two to marry (and more to the point, focus and take pictures).

My advice to potential buyers is that they may well have to use quite a bit of force to get an EF lens onto the EOS-M; once you've got over that hurdle things proceed as you'd expect. It feels "wrong" to have to force a lens to do anything related to a mount, but that's what I had to do, and others may have to consider this before they buy.

For the cost and what you get and what it does, I'd give it five stars, but it loses one because the matching mechanics are somewhat difficult. I can well imagine a number of people (like me) will think about sending this item back, hoping that a new one would do the job. I'm guessing that a new one would probably have the same "tough" interface. Amazon were very good about this, and offered to do replace this "defective" item - so their service was first-rate. For my part, I'm pleased to get what I wanted all along to work properly.

Stick with it - or like me, leave the 50mm attached to the adapter, which saves a whole bunch of hassle.

Tired of only having a few EF-M lens available? Want to use some amazing EF lenses that are out there in the wild? Then this is the adapter for you.

I bought this recently from another site, after previously purchasing a 3rd party adapter (which had a few issues). This adapter however has solved those issues and brought a few new solutions to me.

The build quality is fantastic with metal mounts on both sides, the dots showing where to insert a lens and the locking positions are well thought out and clear to see. All of my EF lenses fit into this adapter no problem and there is no grinding of any kind (unlike my 3rd party one).

What does the adapter do that makes THIS one the must buy? Two things.
First off, It comes with a detachable tripod mount at the bottom which is easily turned with the dial. This is great when you're using a heavier lens on the tiny EOS M body. The fact that it's detachable means you can stow it away when you're shooting by hand if you want a bit of extra grip.

The second thing that it does is something that most people take for granted. It just works. My other adapter (not to be named) often has issues with some lenses and my camera will restart on me constantly when out and about. This adapter has no such issue because of the amazing build quality. I really can't stress enough how much sinking a few more pennies in can help save you frustration.

Overall this is probably the best investment you can make for your EOS M.

I'm using this with the EF-S 55-250mm with very pleasing results. Focusing is fine for still objects (with the new firmware) but, at least in my very amateur hands, still not up to allowing quick shots of a moving object. Not sure this will be very useful if and when Canon releases the EF-M 55-250.

This is a must if you have full size Canon lenses. The present range of Eos M lenses (2) leave a bit of room for extension. True, the focussing is a bit slower than either the M lens or when the full size lens is fitted to the full size camera but that is part of the setup but the Eos M produces great shots with big lenses.

This is a great addition to anyone who has bought a EOS M as a second body. I've been looking through the reviews and some people have had to force the mount to fit or marry up to the lens, I have to say that I haven't had any problems like this what so ever.
I have a canon eos 60D and have a few lenses, and wanted to use my favourite lens on my EOS M, which is a tokina 11-16 AT DX II pro (sorry can't remember the correct letters etc). This adaptor works a treat, no loss if fstops, so I can still shoot at 2.8 (or 1.8 on the nifty fifty) without a problem.
Great addition to any kit.
