I own this reliable printer, and use it to print documents alongside a HP 7160 for the photo and colour documents.
Quiet in the backgound with good paper handling properties. There have been no issues at all with it so there is not a lot else to say other than it does exactly what it is supposed to do.
EDIT: may 2009 : Still working and still on the first Toner - excellant
EDIT: June 2011 : Toner only just ran out! How is that for value for money - outstanding. Have been running a HP Inkjet alongside it for the last 12 months.

It just does the job. The first printer I've had for a while which hasn't needed drivers re-installing, refused to talk to the computer, or generally been a pain.
This printer is the best black and white value for money printer for the office. Perfect for black and white.
