5.0 out of 5 stars proof that number of more pixels is not always necessary, 18 Mar 2003

I bought a D30 when they were first released, I have been extremely impressed by the image quality despite it being only 3.3 megapixels. I think good software, sensor size and lens quality are probably more important than pixel count, once there are more than 2 megapixels. Pixel count is a convenient marketing parameter that was very important in the early days of digital cameras with 300 kpixel resolutions where small increases were readily visible .... the D30 is a bargain - if you only print up to A4 the benefit of the D60 is very small (but visible)

5.0 out of 5 stars digital technology in a camera even your mother could use, 12 Feb 2005
By A Customer
This review is from: Canon Eos D30 Digital Camera [3.3MP] (Electronics)
I've had this camera for 2 and a half years and despite improving technology and availability of more pixels in far cheaper cameras, if you like the feel and want the options of an SLR then this camera is a good choice. Its at the top end of the hobby range, moving into the professional. On manual or automatic photos are of a consistently high standard and the autodrive is particularly useful. This is a camera for the luddites that really prefer their old bodies and lenses but have to send images via email and want something which won't be made obsolete in a few months and is as reliable and wonderful as their old Nikons and Olympus's.. The only faults are with the accessories - the ancient software (then) supplied with the D30, which can corrupt your files if your operating system is anything above Windows 2000; ignore Canon's printing software, and forget the Canon lead and buy a USB card reader. That said, its a lovely camera, completely reliable, with good battery life and reasonably priced lenses.
