Hi

Does anyone have any views on which is best please.

Does the engineering of the canon justify the price for a shorter lens against the cost of the sigma which is longer but not a canon. Experts say yes but I see the sigma has had good reviews

thanks

I'd suggest you have a look at the work of Daniel Beltra. He's just won the title of Veolia Environment Wildlife Photographer of the Year, AND Wildlife Photojournalist of the Year. Some of the pictures in his superb portfolio were taken with a Canon 100-400 from a moving aircraft. I can't comment on the Sigma alternative, but if you can afford it I'd buy the Canon. See my review (and the others) for the reasons why. Cheers!

Probably abit late - but the Canon 100-400 is much better than the Sigma 150-500.

I *used* to own the Sigma, but after disappointing shots on a safari, I decided to sell it and buy the 100-400mm.. I haven't looked back since.

The images are much sharper even at 400mm - I do some videoing on my DSLR, and this lens can cope well even at the longest distance. Highly recommended lens
