I bought this extension tube to work with Canon 40D and 24-105mm F/4 L lenses. The lens does not have macro capability. This EF-25II tube allowed full AF, ETTL and Image Stabilization control through it to the lens. Handheld macro shots (not recommended for macro) was very capable and crystal clear! Amazingly, the EF-25II also allowed full functionality to the my Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens and my Sigman 120-400mm F/3.5 Zoom lens; neither of which have macro capability. NOTE: the extension tube worked but the 30mm lens needed to be almost touching the object - so won't be using it on that lens. I have a ST-E2 transmitter with master/slave function for my 420EX flashgun and that provides more than enough light so macro ring not needed. Recently ordered diffuser for flash gun to reduce harsh shadows. I have other extension tubes (stackable)without the electronic contacts that fit the lenses, but find them fiddly and not as versatile. NOTE: for macro capability on 24-105mm lens, lens needs to be at the 90-103mm zoom extension.

I bought the Canon EF 25 II extension tube to decrease the focal length of both my 55-250 zoom and the 50mm 1.4 standard lens. I am totally impressed with what you can do with this. It brings a whole new meaning to the word "zoom". It decreased the focal distance of my 55-250 zoom lens down to around 7-9 inches and took my 50mm 1.4 lens down to just a couple inches. If you like to get in close and enjoy having fun with your camera, this will take you to an all new and surprising level.

A piece of equipment that has a the right feel to it and which does the job. The narrow depth of field (on the EF100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM) compels, in my view, a sturdy tripod with the extra tools (collar, and yet to buy a track for fine adjustment) to get the sharpest focus. Manual focus is, of course, the right mode to use. Very pleased with the purchase and for any one seriously interested in macro photography and spectacular results, this extension is a 'must'. There are cheaper extensions but the Canon is my choice.

I recently bought this extension tube, and I love it. It does give you the extra focusing distance you need to create amazing macro photography. You can change the Aperture on the fly but the autofocus rarely works and why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5... In any case you would probably only use manual for the majority of photos since you would be using a tripod as well, because you do loose a lot of light with this.

It has excellent build quality, fits the canon 60d very nicely. Comes with a pouch that`s big enough to fit your nifty fifty as well (50mm 1.8).

It`s worth it. ;)

I used this with my Canon 5D Mk III & the 100mm f/2.8L IS USM macro lens. I already have the EF 12 II extension tube which had performed very well for macro work, but I wanted to get that bit closer to my bees & insects, so decided to invest in this EF 25II.
It has not disappointed - I got really close to the subjects & got some amazing shots. The clarity of detail captured is stunning & I'm shooting hand-held too.
