Got this today and the test pics look really good and vivid. Video sharpness is impressive too. Looses a bit on extreme zoom and in darker pictures, but side by side agianst my old pentax optio s4i, a vast improvement. Lots of clever auto modes and subject tracking is amazing. Start up is quick and shutter lag is not a problemMain reson for getting this is that it uses batteries - and it small and very light - ideal for travel / trecking.

The immediate attraction of this camera is that it has an optical viewfinder ~ not really a luxury but, these days, almost a surprise. The lcd screen is excellent but, in bright sun, the vf comes into its own.12 megapixels is more than adequate (unless you want to print on A3 or crop really severely) and no compact in this price range has a sensor large enough to benefit from 14 plus MP. Combined with the usual Canon quality lens this yields sharp, crisp images. The camera is compact enough to fit into a jacket pocket, the controls are laid out in the manner familiar to Canon users and the whole effect is tidy and well designed. And Jessops are selling it at under £[].

As a canon dsl user of many years i was almost shocked to review my 1st images from this camera they are excellent! Well done canon for producing a very usable point and shoot with a viewfinder for our rare sunny days and for the retro AA cells instead of lion batteries, i'm using eneloop rechargables with it .Value for money...5 stars!
