This Canon DCC-850 is the official Canon case for my Canon PowerShot SX50 HS bridge camera. As others say here, the camera fits into the padded case like a glove, with the space to the side of the lens being fashioned into an NB-10L battery storage area (two batteries can fit into this area, one on top of the other). There's also a very small outer zipped pocket at the front that can hold yet another NB-10L battery and an SD HC card or two. There's no spare room for the cameras accessories, other than optional LH-DC60 lens hood fitted onto the camera lens in the reversed stored position. The case is oddly shaped in that the camera projects outwards rather than downwards when hanging on the shoulder strap, but in use I find this no problem at all and the case is easily carried over the shoulder and rests firmly on the floor when not needed.

I fold the camera strap in with the camera inside the case, and this does make the case a little hard to zip up as there's not much extra space in there - but the case and zips seem very well made and easily able to take the slight strain. In fact in regular use over the last few months, the case material has stretched somewhat, now allowing me to stow the camera into the case and pull up the twin zips far more easily (I don't think it's just that I'm more adept at it). There's a large belt loop at the rear and a hanging tab as well. All in all a well made Canon case offering some protection from damage and rain whilst not adding much bulk to the camera itself, and I'm happy with it.

I recently bought the Powershot SX40 HS and needed a case. Although this case is advertised for the SX30, I can confirm that it also fits the SX40 HS.
My only criticism is that there isn't much room for anything else apart from the PC cable & a spare battery. Having said that, there isn't much else I would want to carry around apart from perhaps the charger.

I bought the SX50 and wanted a case to protect it from knocks and bumps. I bought a bridge camera so I had versatlility with my shots without having to carry lots of stuff and bulk around. The case fits the camera perfectly. I fold the camera strap and store it in a space next to the lens. There is a zip pocket that stores a spare battery (and a spare memory card, a credit card and lipstick / lipsalve - what more do you need?). There are small mesh pockets on the sides too - I use one of these for my phone. The zips close perfectly.
I am not usually one for accessories and dump them if they are too fiddly, but my camera lives in its case and I am 100% happy I bought it.

A lot of good things about this case - bought for CanonSX50HS - but the design is a bit strange. With filters fitted to the lens, it was a very tight squeeze and leaves little room for accessories. It felt unbalanced to carry because it is wider than it is high and the zips did not close completely. However, it is solidly made and exactly fits the basic camera. I returned it.

Bought this for my Canon Powershot SX10 IS. Fits snuggly - had to remove the little velcro section thing inside, but that's no problem as I didn't really need it. The camera is well protected inside. The bag has a couple of extra handy pockets which I use for batteries and my spare SD card. It's easy to carry, and to grab the camera from when photographic my nonstop kids!! So far so good. Would definitely recommend.

Opening this case is a bit cumbersome, with its double-zip fastening and noisy velcro flap. But it's good quality and does what I need it to do: holds my SX-40 in the main compartment and, in the zipped outer pouch my flexible mini-tripod, spare battery and memory card.

Having just ordered an SX40HS, was looking for a case to protect my new toy. Comparing the options went for the Canon DCC-850 and must say I'm delighted with it. The case is the perfect size. I bought a bridge camera because I didn't want to lug about all the paraphernalia that goes with SLR's and this case perfectly fulfils the all my requirements. It's not bulky yet the camera drops into it without any persuasion. there is a handy compartment inside which appears to be designed for a spare battery, at least, that's what mine will be used for! the pocket on the front holds the data transfer leads for example.

Nice materials, nice finish and well designed. Prefect partner and good practical accessory. The price compares favourably to other non branded products too. Just a little more expensive but for me, worth it.

Light; my Powershot SX50 HS fits perfectly in it. The padding is sufficient to absorb strong impacts. The extra battery fits perfectly inside, but careful not to drop it when you open it to take the camera out.
Extra memory cards fit perfectly on the pouch outside.
