Compact Stylish Design
Canon endeavour to produce high quality, yet compact and stylishly designed products, and the CanoScan LiDE 30 is no exception. The LiDE 30 measures just 256 x 383 x 34mm and is finished with an attractive Aluminium Metallic Light Blue coloured lid. In addition, the LiDE 30 includes a scanner stand as a standard accessory, enabling the user to store and scan with the scanner on its side, providing the worlds smallest installation footprint.
Single USB cable connection / No AC Adapter Required
Feel the ease of a simple connection with a single cord. The CanoScan LiDE 30 uses a USB 2.0 Full Speed interface cable to provide both data transfer and power to the scanner.
One Touch Scanning Experience
The CanoScan LiDE 30 includes three EZ scan buttons, ensuring quick access to great features. The "Scan" button saves the scanned image to file, "Copy" sends your image to a printer for automatic output, and "Email" saves the scanned file, as a specified file size, for attachment.
QARE v 2.0
QARE Technology (Quality Automatic Retouching and Enhancement) version 2.0 is featured on the CanoScan LiDE 30. QARE removes the minute dust and scratch on photographs using a software based interpolation process to achieve retouching effects. QARE version 2 has been enhanced, to improve the performance of dust and scratch reduction whilst also incorporating a function which reduces the noise level even further.
LiDE Technology
LIDE is Canons original and emblematic technology "LED Indirect Exposure". Essentially, LIDE allows Canon's Notebook scanners to gain higher colour fidelity and less distortion in image processing, whilst achieving image quality that is superior to CCD scanners in their class. LIDE also allows Canon's scanners to achieve lower prices, greater reliability and a smaller footprint , because there are less moving mechanical parts, and the CanoScan scanners use lower power consumption.
LIDE gives the new CanoScans higher sensitivity than conventional scanners, and is regarded, by industry experts, as the next-generation of image sensor technology.
Multi-Photo Mode
The One Path Multi-Scan feature on the CanoScan LiDE 30 ensures faster scanning of multiple images than previously. Historically, the more multiple images to be scanned, the longer scanning will take, because images are scanned one at a time. One Path Multi-Scan ensures that multiple images are scanned collectively ensuring faster scanning operation.

Excellent for scanning home photos, not that good for text.,

This review is from: Canon CanoScan LiDE 30 Scanner (Personal Computers)
The scanner is very slim and light, but it does have a feeling of solidity to it. It is fairly quiet as scanners go although you will certainly know when it is working. It produces excellent colour scans of pictures, and is brilliant for doing several pictures at once as it splits up the scanned images into individual files. It probably is not the quickest scanner around for doing photos but it does the job well and is really good value in this area. The only thing it does not do very well is text, which is why I have only given it 4 stars. The supplied text recognition software does a middling job, but if you need to do a lot of text scanning then look elsewhere. It comes with the USB cable, image capture and editing software, text recognition software, plus drivers and utilities, and you can get it up and running in a few minutes. It will work with both USB1 and USB2 so you should have no trouble there. Overall then, if you want to do a lot of scanning of photos then this is really good value and looks like a bargain!

This slimline scanner is great. Powered by USB and not much bigger than a thick magazine (although obviously not as bendy) it produces superb results and in far higher resolution than I will ever need (I mainly use if for generating website graphics). My only complaint is that the "convinent" buttons on the front which launch various scanning applications ( quick scan , scan to email etc) are far to easy for my 2 year old son to reach causing havoc when I am working on something else.

The Ronseal Scanner,
This review is from: Canon CanoScan LiDE 30 Scanner (Personal Computers)
Not much to write about this product really - its a well built, excellent value for money scanner which does exactly what the manufacturer says. The case is slimline and its looks are well designed and fit in well with a modern stylish home. The product was very easy to install - probably took 20 mins to get the first image scanned in. The scanner makes a bit of noise while scanning, but unless you're scanning hundreds of items then this isn't really a problem. I use the scanner to scan in photographs and graphical drawings - all of which are of an acceptable quality for presentation purposes. I would definately recommend his scanner to any non-professional user.
