The CanoScan LiDE 20 USB flatbed scanner is one of the world's most compact flatbeds - still, it offers big performance and big savings. Just over an inch high, it packs in all the features you need to scan images, copy documents or e-mail your favorite photos. All with true "one-touch" operation. The LiDE 20 scanner is so intuitive and easy to use, first-time users can get expert results in remarkable color resolution up to 600 x 1200 dpi and up to 48-bit depth with over 281 trillion possible colors. To scan, just place the photo on the platen and push the "scan" button - that's it. "Copy" and "e-mail" functions are just as simple. Set up and operation is made even easier with just one cable for power and USB - no extra AC adapter needed.Scan multiple photos at once with the push of a button. "Multi-Scan mode" is automatically activated and scans all the pictures in a single pass, preparing a separate image file for each. It will even adjust any slightly misaligned photos. Scanning multi-pages into a PDF file is just as easy. Innovative software even allows you to save your images directly to CDs as easily as scan, click and burn.The LiDE 20 scanner is small but can tackle the big jobs. The exclusive Z-Lid expansion top lifts 1" high and stays flat for scanning books and magazines. Most other scanner covers lift only at an angle, often resulting in poor scans. Canon integrated QARE 2.0 (Quality Automatic Retouching and Enhancement) technology is designed to help perfect every scan by automatically removing much of the dirt and scratches from images, helping you to look like a pro.

I suffered with my old "cheapy" scanner for two years, thinking it was as good as they get. However, that all changed when I used a friends Canon LiDE 20 scanner. I realised just how bad my old scanner really was. The Canon was small ( just over 1" high ) and very quiet. The scan time is so much faster using the USB2 port but the biggest advantage for me is not having to find a spare mains socket for a mains adapter. The low energy scanner light is totally powered through the USB port. - Absolutely magic. Great for swapping between my desktop and laptop. The scan quality is exactly what you would expect from a leading manufacturer..very very good. Needless to say - I bought one. If you're looking for a quality scanner at a reasonable price, with an excellent, easy to use scanner interface taking up the minimum of valuable desk space I can honestly recommend this scanner, it's brilliant. Top marks Canon.

I found this scanner to be very easy to use on basic scanning, and still easy to use with more advanced settings.The end results are good quality; from photo scans to various types of documents I haven't found much wrong with the end result. One of the best features of the scanner is that it needs no mains socket and simply plugs into the computer via USB and runs off low power from the computer unit...fantastic. The scans are very quick, even for a full A4 sized item. The scanner itself is very sleak and slim, and comes with its own stand that enables the scanner to be stored on its side(like a PS2 games console) and takes up very little space. With the name Canon you expect excellence, the price might indicate this isn't top of their range, but for basic every day scanning requirements, this offers fantastic quality and value for money.

quality scanner at loose change price..,

My first scanner was as big as a house, cost major bucks and took up more space than it was worth..It still did a fair job but the wife cajoled me for taking up so much space on the dining room table--And so I found the Canon CanoScan LiDE 20 scanner on Amazon at an unbelievably low price. It looked small and by jove it is small, light, and takes up but a tiny area next to my system. The Big scanner now detached, can still be used, but the reproducing of pictures in speed, quality and technique by the Canon beats my old "steam driven" scanner into the proverbial cocked hat..Thanks Canon, thanks Amazon, my system is more compact and much better now, thank you..
