I bought this lens hood for my Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens and it has been proven to be a really great accessory in terms of protection from the environment (e.g. dust, etc) but also sunlight. There's not much to say about this really, except for the fact that it's quite bulky in comparison to other lens hood's (e.g. Tamron 70-300). However, it's well worth the buy and I'd consider it an essential tool not only for lens protection, but also for greater results. Hope this helped ;)

Bought one of these recently from a famous high street camera retailer, which cost less than Amazon here (shhh!) and was shocked at how large it is. Echoing the previous reviewer's thoughts, it adds a fair bit of bulk to the end of the lens and when reversed, it adds a lot of extra girth to the lens so bear this in mind if you have a tightly packed kit bag etc. The inside is velvet lined to maximise light absorption, and clicks into place nicely.

The only downside with this lenshood is that due to the ring-USM design of the 70-300 IS USM lens, be very careful when attaching and detaching; the end of the lens moves when focusing so you want to make sure you've got everything held down tightly to avoid stripping the gears inside the focusing motor.

Its an expensive bit of plastic, but then you need it!
Well made, matt black on the outside, velvety interior - does exactly what it is designed to do!
Never had a problem putting it on the 70-300mm lens. It twists on, clicks into place, and twists off with ease. Still have easy access for manual focus etc.

It does the job
This came in handy on tour in India, nothing to get excites about, it seemed a bit cheap for Canon, not sure why but I think

A bit pricey
...but it helps a lot with lateral lights reducing flares and ghost images. Good also to protect the lens from accidental bumps even if I always mount a UV-filter.

Its a lens hood what more can you say apart from the price!
I buy a Canon lens to go with my Canon cameras as I will not compromise with some cheaper independants. Read more

Does the job: and so it should!
Lens hoods are IM(H)O, essential for lenses - and it's a shame that Canon only include lens hoods with L Series lenses. Hence - and with a view to the price - only 4 stars. Read more

Not the best price for this Canon product.
I found this Canon product at an online photographic store (also listed in Photographic magazines) for the price of £9.99. Read more

Good hood but expensive
Fits well onto my 70-300m lens, and fits well when turned around for storing. Far too expensive though for what it is. Use a competitors hood at a fraction of the price.

Bulky but efficient
A costly addition to the 70-300mm if bought new, but really protect from flare. Funny enough one can get it cheaper in a well known high street shop. Read more

It's a lens hood!
What can I say, it's a lens hood. Probably worth seeing if you can get it for less somewhere else because it's an awful lot of money for a bit of plastic. Read more
