Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Ergonomic design
Built for comfort with rounded casing, the 8x25IS are the most compact and light weight IS binoculars on the market, weighing just 490 g (excluding battery). The 8x25IS are also extremely ergonomic with the IS switch and focusing knob located on top centre of the binoculars so that they can be reached quickly and easily.

Efficient image stabilizer
The Canon 8x25IS features a newly developed tilt system image stabiliser which corrects hand shake and is smaller and lighter than the VAP (vari-angle prism) used in previous models. The image stabiliser, which only operates when the IS switch is pressed, has a six-hour life on a single CR123A lithium battery.

Excellent optics
The 8x25IS ensure a clear, flat image without colour smearing, an effect that is achieved by combining special field-flattener lenses in the eyepiece of the tilt system to reduce chromatic aberrations. A super-spectra coating suppresses flare and ghosting, thereby producing a high degree of contrast. Actual and apparent field of view, eye relief and closest focusing distance are of parallel quality to professional binoculars. The 8x25IS also use lead-free glass to help protect the environment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Canon image stabilising binoculars., 15 Jun 2003
These binoculars are a boon for anyone who has trouble in getting a stable image due to handshake or who is viewing from a moving platform such as a boat.

Canon are famous for their stabilised camera lenes & the same technology is used in these binoculars. The effect can be switched off but once used you will never do this as the results are dramatic.

The binoculars are slightly larger in order to accomodate the stabilising mechanism but are easy to handle & comfortable to use.

The clarity of the image is outstanding & allows the user to study detail in a way which ordinary binoculars would not. They are ideal for bird watching & sports & similar pursuits. There is a selection of different powers available in this range from Canon to suit every need but this model is the most affordable & the smallest.

Once you have used this type of binocular all the other ordinary types will never seem as good again - so be warned!
