Hello, the G16 does not have a memory card included in the box as a lot of people will want the use a card that performs to their own requirements. As memory is relatively cheepp these days I would recommend at least 16 gig memory card although most people I know with a G16 use 64 gig (including myself) as this seems to have ample space to continue another day of taking pictures if you don't have opportunity to download the previous days pictures. Regardless of the amount of memory I would seriously recommend that the most important feature is the speed that the memory card can be written to as if not adequate some of the cameras functions will not work to the full capacity (e.g. taking a burst of shots). Amazon has several offerings that are aimed at the photographer. It is worth in the long run to use fast, high quality memory.

Hi Alan, IMy G16 is the latest in the G series which I've purchased- G9, G12, G15 and G16. I think the G 16 is excellent. Easy to use, very good photos which are easy to download to computer, good in poor light. Many options for photos. Would certainly recommend. However, note that with both G12 and G15, the lens locked in the extended position rendering them useless. Amazon replaced the G15 (less than 1 year old) with G 16 without question, G12 was out of warranty. For both cameras, I found Canon most unhelpful. Recommend you take out an extended warranty with G 16 just in case. However to repeat, I believe the G 16 camera is superb and excellent value for money. PS- the G9 is still going strong

The 'Canon Powershot G16 Camera User Guide' does NOT come with the camera. Only a 'Getting Started' guide comes in the box. The CUG has to be downloaded from Canon. It is in the form of a 212 page, landscape PDF that is designed to be used on a computer rather than printed out. You don't have to actually own a G16 to download the CUG. Not sure whether this Amazon page allows URLs, but here goes: http://www.canon.co.uk/Support/Consumer_Products/products/cameras/Digital_Compact/Powershot_G_series/PowerShot_G16.aspx?type=manuals. Hope this helps.
