PIXMA MP620 Highlights

1pl Technology

Picolitre size

The size of the ink droplets can vary, and it is this that you quite often see quoted in printer specifications as a Pico litre rating (pl). The Smaller the nozzle jet, the tinier the ink drop, so the more detailed the print image will be.

5 Single Inks

Ink tanks/Cartridges

To minimise ink wastage and protect the environment, Canon’s Single Ink system uses transparent, individually replaceable single colour ink tanks. Each tank incorporates an LED that flashes slowly to indicate when ink is low, or rapidly when the tank is empty. To ensure hassle-free installation, the LED also indicates when a tank is incorrectly installed.

East-Scroll Wheel

Scroll Wheel

The Easy-Scroll Wheel is rotated to operate the printer and make selections from the menu, displayed on a high quality colour TFT screen.

Quick Start

Quick Start

No more waiting around; Quick Start gets you going in an instant. Switch on your PIXMA, and start printing or copying in as little as 4 seconds!

Auto Image Fix

Auto Image Fix

Not every photo is perfect; that’s why Canon introduces Auto Image Fix.  It automatically analyses your photo, and then enhances skin tones, colour contrasts and saturations.  Simply scan, and edit them with the easy-to-use software.  Then reprint them to share with family and friends.

Memory Card

Memory Card Compatibility

Digital photographs can be printed quickly and easily simply by inserting memory cards into the card slot. Most of the memory cards in the market are supported.

Colour copy -- A4 approx. 16cpm

Colour Copy

A4 document colour copy speed. The advanced copy technology gives faithful colour reproduction on plain papers as well. Deliver high speed copy with beautiful photos and texts.

Scan 2400x4800dpi

Scanner Optical Resolution: The CCD or CIS systems of flat-bed scanning are used in all-in-one models. Achieved maximum resolution of 2400 (horizontal) x 4800 (vertical) dpi. 2400dpi resolution delivers good colour scans. Scan straight to PC, email or PDF. MP Navigator EX software makes every stage of operation easier, from image search to PDF document editing. Scan your existing photo prints and re-print them to share the duplicates with family and friends, or scan faded photos and bring them back to life with the easy-to-use software.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Pleased! Worth every penny. 1 Jan 2009
I ordered this printer from Amazon as my old HP was nearly a gonner.
It arrived very quickly, and the set up was fairly straight forward.
One word of caution! be patient when setting up the printer for wireless connecting, make sure that you keep the usb lead connected until "setup successful" is displayed.

As for the printout quality - this printer is brilliant, I have printed out documents and photos and the quality of each is superb!!!!
I am working my way through all of the features and so far this printer is one of the best value for money I've seen...oh don't forget you can use it wirelessly :-).

P.S. It's now under 100.00!!! Well done Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the job 16 Nov 2008
I wanted a printer that worked on a network because I was tired of having to switch on my wife's computer every time I needed to request a print via our wired network. When the old Epson gave up the ghost I decided to investigate Canon printers as they seem to come out on top in independent reviews. I have not been disappointed and so far it has performed impeccably.

The set-up guide appears rather awesome initially but if you read through it and follow the instructions carefully you should have no problem. Attaching anything to a network is often problematic but setting up our two computers to work with the printer through our network was trouble-free.

I haven't tried all the facilities yet (of which there are many) but it produces good quality prints and sends scanned documents to e-mails using easy to follow instructions. One facility I do like is the ability to check the status of the printer from my computer that is situated in a different room from the printer.

Time will tell whether the key indicator, ink usage, is reasonable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beware the Frequently Bought Together Trap 19 Jan 2009
These cartridges may frequently be bought together with the printer, but if they are then there are a lot of irritated people out there (including me), and probably Shima Uma aren't too chuffed either.

The '8' series cartidges are for the MP610 NOT the MP620, bizarre though this may seem. The MP 620 needs 521/520 series cartridges.

I haven't used the printer a lot yet, but the print quality seems superb, and the wireless setup was a lot easier than I anticipated it might be. I'm expecting to be as impressed by this printer as I have been by the other Canon printers I've had, but only time will tell for sure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good 22 Jan 2009
Checked out loads of printers to say the least! Looked at all makes and went for this one. Reviews on 610 and 630 looked as if this one was the best. Lots to unpack but better that having broken parts. Easy set up about an hour (after unpacking and read instructions). Wireless set up was no problem at all (Vista laptop). Works great, looks the part. First 6x4 photo printed was fantastic which is a good job, as that was why I bought this printer for photo print quality. Oh, and unlike most of the reviews I read about other printers - it comes with a USB lead!!

5.0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! 8 Jan 2009
The printer works brilliantly and the wireless is fantastic although I did get slightly confused when setting it up!
The printer comes with ink cartridges which I didn't know so that was useful. Definitely the best printer on the market!

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb All In One 1 Jan 2009
This is a fantastic Printer/Scanner/Copier. Very easy to set up using the User Guide and works flawlessly within my wireless network. Id recently swapped from a desktop to a Laptop and decided that i wanted a wireless printer to go with it. Really pleased i went with this one. It does everything it says it does effortlessly and is so easy to use. Was set up within 30 mins of taking out of the box (at least 10 mins of that unpacking/installing the inks etc). very Highly Recommended!

This is my first review.
The bigger brother of this model, the MP630 did not have the same connectivity but is a better printer for normal (USB) use. This model is a better option if you want to print from multiple computers and have a little home network setup.
Firstly the instructions, easy to follow, the hardest part of the installation I found was getting the print head installed as it seemed to need more pressure even when it was in the right place.
Printing is speedy, even over the wired, or wireless connections (not both at the same time though, setup one or the other) Setup of the wireless connection was easiest with a USB key and the windows wireless wizard. Scanning works well again, via USB and over the LAN. Photo printing is excellent quality when used with the proper paper.
On windows, this setup is easy, you can get it to work with Linux (Ubuntu) but it takes some real effort to do. Instructions are spread out over the internet. If you are after better linux support and are not confident in doing this, I would recommend an HP Photosmart instead (this worked almost out the box with Linux for me last time) but these are typically more expensive to run.
Scanning in linux "Should" work, but I've not got round to getting this up and running yet!
Printer has been up and running since Christmas, and with light to medium use, I've still not had to change a cartridge yet!.
Each colour is individually tanked, and each one costs around 10. More economical to only change the colours you have used up.
The Paper tray underneath is quite small, and the feeder at the back is good as an addtional source but spoils the aesthetics when up. The tray at the front flips down automatically (pretty swish and neat) so your print job comes out.
All in all, a great little package and a good price.
