I found this DVD excellent quality technically - despite the ancient format it was mastered on, something called 2-inch quadraplex videotape. TV was all 4:3 in aspect ratio at the time of production and audio was non-Dolby since the linear speed of the tape was regarded fast enough to not need "noise" - hiss - reduction.
I think viewers seeing some star names of the period having fun with the boys - like the legendary Diana Dors - will find this series excellent fun. Other reviewers say how much better Tommy Cannon and Bobby Ball are in these shows and the "boys" are certainly more relaxed with the stress of staying in a boring London hotel and not playing to a a 'live' audience every night of the week which they were used to doing at the time.
We didn't rehearse much in our rehearsal room at Waterloo station - only enough for me to script my camera shots - because comedy needs to not be over-rehearsed and become too familiar and unfunny. We saved the best laughs for our studio recordings - Studio 1 at The London Studios which seats 500 audience. No need to dub these laughs!
I think I could have done better with a few more close-ups of Bobby's face. Ah well.
