Jess Franco directed this film for Eurocine, responsible for the wonderfully atrocious "Cannibal Terror" and it looks like some of the Disco Dancing Cannibal shots are used here.
"Al Cliver"'s family get butchered and kidnapped by cannibals and he returns year later (Minus his arm, which was eaten by the cannibals) to find his daughter. He takes with him a bunch of people and, guess what... Yes, you probably guessed it.
Funky score, and the locations look very unlike a jungle - more like southern spain. The Cannibals are all white. There's a few gore scenes, shot in slow motion. There maybe a plot somewhere. I'm rating this on the Franco-meter, and it gets a 3. God knows what your average punter will think of this.

I disagree with some of the things said by the other reviewers and the film has a good story decent acting and I agree that the cannibals look a bit plane and they are white which looks a bit stupid for a film like this! its not a horror as in such but its more of a tribe drama that feels like an old classic Indian movie from the 1950's - some of the cannibals look like every day people and why are they white ? most tribes ain't white are they so its a bit of a hiccup in that sense! the cast do well with the acting and the plot is good I like the whole idea that the story is about a family and the wife gets eaten and the kid gets abducted fahter is held prisoner by the tribe, years later he goes back to get his daughter back! the film has an inspiring ending to it which was very moving to watch with a very powerful scene that gives hope and bravery to the screen.

there ain't a lot of violence but there is a scene in the start of the film that the wife gets eaten on the boat, this scene is the most vulgar, brutal cheap utter grotesque and gory, hard to keep looking at it scene I have seen in any film which does make this ONE OF THE MOST HORRIBLE FILMS I'VE SEEN and just that one scene in the start of the film has made it juat that sick and stomach churning, apart from that scene you dont see anymore violence but I think just that one scene is gory enough to last you through the enite film grossed out and disgraced, TRUST ME THE SCENE IS UTTER MUCK!!! cheap nasty effects make it look real it goes into such detail its shocking see it to believe but I bet many of you will fail to look at the scene with out any sickness feeling to puke!!

WATCH THIS FILM DON'T EXPECT A HORRO FILM THOUGH!!

challenge yourself see if you can manage to watch that scene!!

I like a lot of italian horror movies, a lot are bad but wildly entertaining in the "it's so bad it's good catagory" Jess Franco's "Cannibals" is just plain horrible though in every sense of the word!!! Most cannibal movies aren't that well made but they do usually have a great exploititive plot, gore, decent pacing and memorable scenes. This film has none of those elements whatsoever! Jess Franco's direction is bordering on incompetance! Franco was never a good b-movie director anyway and makes the likes of Umberto Lenzi and Bruno Mattei look like Martin Scorcese and Francis ford coppolla respectively. The whole thing was a labour to get through and i couldn't wait for it to finish. If your really after some good cannibal films then check out Cannibal Holocaust,Jungle Holocuast and Umberto Lenzi's ultra trashy (but so good!) cannibal Ferox and Eaten Alive.

Buy this at your own risk!

I wasnt expecting much from this film but when i watched it i enjoyed it. Its not the most perfect film in the world but it is a better film to watch than other cannibal movies like Umberto Lenzis DEEP RIVER SAVAGES and EATEN ALIVE and thankfully theres no animal cruelty. So check it out its definitely Worth it.

curious Jess Franco film shot in Benidorm (Spain) in the 80's. Serves as a study to analyze the film from that era. Luis Colombo.Spain
