Product Description

Empire

It's difficult to describe Holocaust's capacity to offend, blending, as it does, rank misogyny, porno-rape fantasy, racism, sadism, cannibalism and real cruelty to animals. The book's strengths are its illustrations (not for the weak of stomach) as well as a complete filmography... a must for students of transgressive cinema.

Total Film

This is a sharply written, heavily anecdotal work, awash with artworks, rare posters and graphically stomach-churning stills from Deodato's oeuvre. Cannibal Holocaust makes for a great, sick-puppy read. An excellent treatment of an auteur on the bloodiest periphery of filmmaking.

5.0 out of 5 stars essential purchase for gorehounds!, 31 Aug 2011

Aha - a hardcover version of this book is now available, welcome & essential if you appreciate the outrageous images of Italian cannibal movies! Garish & often offensive photos abound having been gathered together from old video sleeves & laser discs so the squeamish may wish to pass on this one! For the rest of us we can only lament the demise of this almost forgotten era somewhat naively labelled video nasties.Treat yourself to this super book & re live the good old days!Cannibal Ferox - Fully Uncut

4.0 out of 5 stars well designed book!, 30 Dec 2005
By T. Hardin - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Cannibal Holocaust: And the Savage Cinema of Ruggero Deodato (Paperback)
Fab press out of the u.k. have been churning out top quality books for several years now, this one was no exception.A little smaller than some of their other titles, and not published in hardback, but otherwise given the same loving treatment.
This book is filled with many color reproductions of rare posters, lobby cards, etc. a visually stimulating introduction to the curious,as well a treat to the dedicated Ruggero Deadato fan.
Obviously Cannibal Holocaust is the predominant subject matter here, but also info on all his other genre pictures!

5.0 out of 5 stars I HEAR YA LOUD AND CLEAR!!!, 21 July 2004

This review is from: Cannibal Holocaust: And the Savage Cinema of Ruggero Deodato (Paperback)
Your review ( or reccomendation) hasn't gone unread and I agree with you 100% if you are really dedicated to finding and buying this movie it is out there and readily available, I got mine from a place called Scarecrow video out of Seattle, WA, they specialize in hard to find dvd's and they have more than one version available. This is a movie you won't see on cable or any of your other movie channels if you want to see it you will have to pay at least $20.00, but in my opinion it is worth every penny. This is one of those films that you need to watch just to say you did. Find it, buy it, watch it, you might thank yourself!
