From the Author

A dog's life for me
I just wanted to take a moment to say hello to the people on Amazon.com from my Scottie, Ellery (named after one of my favorite authors). He gives this book 2 paws up. Naturally, he liked my story best as I gave him a chew treat to say so, but all of the tails (or is that tales) kept him reading.

This mystery short story collection comes with a twist as the detectives who solve the case are canines, who know how to sniff out a clue or two. All fifteen stories are well-written and will be enjoyed by dog lovers and fans of canine capers. The humorous tales occur in a vastly different landscapes such as Central Park and Maine, though Manhattan is prominently used. The breed of dog also varies, but the one consistent besides some great writing is that the crime solving remains a serious matter to the sleuthing hounds who star in this anthology.

The fifteen contributors consist of many of today's more popular writers, some of whom readers would not have expected an amateur dog detective story. The collection is fun and must reading for fans of the sub-genre.

Dog Days of Short Story Writing 6 Nov 2011
By Jen Richardson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Most of the short stories found within this compilation are clearly based on the authors' own lives. Thinly veiled plotlines with highly implausible and illogical points, all with dogs as the only common thread. I'm always willing to give authors a try, especially those I've never heard about prior to finding a book, but I believe there's a reason these are not on the best-seller lists.
The best collection of short stories I've read this year 2 May 2002

I really enjoyed this collection of short stories dedicated to dogs and murder. Most of the best dog mystery authors are included as well as contribution from such authors as Anne Perry and Dean James. A very enjoyable collection.
Great stuff, fun to read. Thank you, Mr. Marks! 30 Sep 1999

A terrific collection of stories, whether you love dogs or not. Of course, some are better than others (such being the nature of these collections), but Jeff Marks has done a bang-up job of putting together some top-notch crime fiction.
