5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book on reading dog body language 29 Aug 2008
Format:Paperback
Haven't managed to get all the way through this book yet as there is so much in it! Loads of really interesting photos for you to study, and not set up photos - just dogs going about their daily business and the author telling you what's really happening in the photographs. There's also plenty to read in it too. It's a big chunky book which gives you a good insight into dog behaviour - well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extensive and helpful 11 Nov 2008
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this book when I went into super nerd mode about training my dog and wanted to know as much as possible.

It has taught me more than I expected it to. Using plenty of dogs in the photos, you can recognise subtle signs in all breeds. Some books like this show aggression with a picture of a terrier etc with full baring teeth. This book would show you the more subtle signals that appear before this point.

Another very useful feature is body language dogs use with each other and not just with humans. Overall, it was well worth the money

5.0 out of 5 stars Behaviour in pictures 24 Feb 2009
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
As a canine behaviourist I am often asked which books I recommend for clients. The honest answer was in fact, very few. There is a plethora of training guides, books and manuals on the market which mostly seem to confuse most dog owners! Now there are many I recommend, this is one book of them, I just ignore the stuff where it says 'pack leader'! It is laid out in a simple yet effective manner enabling the reader to see exactly what behaviour is being shown and the explantions Brenda makes are easily understood. I actively encourage owners and clients to learn their canine friends language to reach a better level of understanding of their dog; this book is a valuable tool for that learning.
