Floss' parents split up when she was younger and she now divides up her week, spending five days with her mum, her mum's new boyfriend and her new baby half-brother. The other two days Floss spends with her dad, helping him to run his greasy spoon cafe. But then their simple arrangement is thrown into disarray when Floss' mum decides to move to Australia for six months. Floss has to choose whether to go with her or stay with her dad. She picks her dad and they muddle along happily together, surviving on chip butties and enjoying visits to the local funfair. But then disaster strikes, Dad's money troubles catch up with him and they have to move out of the cafe. They're homeless - but can their new fairground friends help out? This title presents another gripping and emotionally involving slice of family life from the award-winning, bestselling author, Jacqueline Wilson.

Amazon Review

The Children’s Laureate has done it again. Jacqueline Wilson’s latest story is a winning combination of realistic characters, entertaining drama and moving encounters. Candlyfloss effortlessly draws its young readers into its pages from the beginning, immediately making connections with a readership that idolises the author’s every literary effort.

Floss lives with her mum and her mum’s new husband--the super ambitious Steve--and her half-brother Tiger. When Steve drops the bombshell that he has been asked to go and work in Sydney, and that they’re all moving to Australia for six months, Floss cannot believe it. She’s excited about the prospect of a trip of a lifetime but what about her dad? He may only be the less well-off and unsuccessful owner of a down-at-heel greasy spoon café, but she is all he has got in the world to look forward to. He lives for her weekly visits and the chance to feed her chip butties without her mum finding out.

Floss soon finds herself in an impossible situation. If she chooses to stay behind, everything will be different. She may be able to stay close to her not-all-that-she-seems best friend Rhiannon and get to live with the best dad in the world full-time, but is it the right decision to make in the long run?

As an ambassador demonstrating the robust health of the nation’s storytelling talent, one needs look no further than Jacqueline Wilson. Her popularity is well earned, and seemingly repeated and confirmed with each new volume in her library. Her novels have a ring of the familiar; characters that seem like they live just next door, speaking dialogue that is so true-to-life it makes you wonder how old the lady behind the words really is. Wilson’s bestselling novels, totalling over twenty million and counting, are undoubtedly the modern classics of the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Candyfloss BRILLIANT BOOK! 29 April 2007
By Elle
Format:Paperback
This is a great book. My nine year old daughter read it to me and it was so good that she could not stop reading it! She has read many books but she says this has to be one of the best Jacqueliene Wilson books ever. It is not that funny but it is dead interesting. It is about a girl named Floss. Her mum has a boy freind who gets a job in Australia and they are planning to go there for a few months. Floss doesnt want to leave her dad or best friend so what will she do? She really liked the part when Floss stood up for her self but the whole book is very good

indeed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Candyfloss - Brilliant book!! 30 Oct 2010
A Kid's Review
Format:Paperback
This book is absolutely brilliant, i must have read it at least 10 times! It is one of Jacqueline Wilson's best books and i would recommend it to anyone. It is about a girl called Flora (everyone nicknames her Floss) and her mum broke up with her dad, and her mum now is living with her new boyfriend Steve and their baby son. Steve gets promoted in his job to Australia. Floss wants to go, but wants to stay with her poor dad who lives in a cafe with hardly any customers so he is in danger of being shut down. It is not all sad though! The rest is brilliant and i love reading it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Jacqueline Wilson has done it again! 2 Jun 2006
Format:Hardcover
Jacqueline has again created another amazing book. I loved the illustrations, and considering I thought I was too old for Jacky's tales now (14 going on 15) I have had a serious reality check. I love Floss and Susan (wow, my Mum's name) and the whole idea of the fair. Being older-ish, it kind of makes me appreciate how I needn't worry about growing up too soon.

I was so enthusiastic about the book I even went to the signing in WHSmiths and met Jacky herself. Trust me, this book is great, and you HAVE to meet her in person. She's utterly fabulous.

I definitely won't hesitate to recommend you this book. Great buy!

p.s. one prob, again it's an open ending...sigh, Jackie, please step on it and write a book that tells me whether she lives happily ever after or not! ^_^

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Book 23 May 2006
By Cynthia
Format:Hardcover
Candyfloss was an interesting book to read. Floss is a very compassionate girl when her mum, stepdad, and half-brother and herself are to move to Australia, all Floss is worried about is her dad. This is a very moving story and shows the true meaning of how family really means to you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Issy Rubins's Ideas of Candyfloss 8 Jun 2006
Format:Hardcover
If you like books by Jacqueline Wilson you should love Candyfloss. It is a book with excitment and a girl with a big

decision ahead of her.

Rhiannon can be a mean person, but Flossie is her best friend. Her dad misses her mum at times because of the divorce- However I won't give more of the plot away.

Mum's new husband Steve has earned a great opportunity! Should Flossie go or stay with dad and the fair or should she go with mum, Steve and her step brother Tiger? That is her dilemma!

The author's style is superb! She really describes how various characters feel and in different locations.

I would recommend it to a lot of people who like the author's excellent books and her style!

5.0 out of 5 stars A thrilling read with a hint of danger 30 April 2006
Format:Hardcover
Flora Barnes lives with her mum step dad and step brother but when her mum tells her that she's moving too Australia she starts having second thoughts about her dad...

Flora dad works in his cafe but when her dads chip business starts going downhill it seems like they will probably be pushed out onto the streets...

I think Candy floss is a great book that helps you understand how it feels when your family and life is in a mess and lets you experience a great friendship between flora and her friend.
