Biography

Mice Parade was originally the solo project of New Yorker Adam Pierce, who has also drummed in Swirlies, The Dylan Group, HiM and múm, and runs the Bubble Core label and distribution company.

From its outset, Mice Parade has shown a boldly inventive and highly individual take on post-rock / electronica. Following 1998's Bubble Core album, 'The True Meaning Of ... Read more in Amazon's Mice Parade Store

Product Description

A richly-produced home recording at Pierce s converted house studio in upstate New York (described by Pierce as 'a cozy place at the edge of a forest' which over the last two years has also served Animal Collective, Frightened Rabbit, Tom Brosseau, Ensemble and others in various capacities), Candela represents at once Mice Parade s most adventurous release and its closest to pure pop music.

Review

'Candela is full of unexpected juxtapositions: It rarely stays in one place, and a few those multicultural elements still drift into songs' --Magnet Magazine

The Parade continues... 11 Feb. 2013

into the wonderful, inventive output that you would expect. Would give this album 4 & a half stars, but you can't. (The problem with five star rating systems). Sorry, I do not give five star reviews for anything (music, movies, etc.), because the only things that rate five stars earn it over time. Nothing is five star when it first comes out.

Mice Parade (Adam Pierce) does it again - only even better. Beautiful melodies, strong, meaningful lyrics. Fabulous flamenco and classical guitar.
eclectic, eccentric, experimental indie music 9 April 2013
By Charlie Quaker - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
9th album from New York band, a strange bunch who really deserve the "three e" (eclectic,
eccentric, experimental) rating. "Candela" starts off with soaring waves of atmospheric
feedback, and proceeds through funky electronic "no-wave" art-pop, noisy indie guitar splatter-jazz pop,
minimalist & twisty electro-folk, hypnotic synthesizer instrumentals, ethno-flared
percussion & horn driven tunes, and epic, building slow-pop. Of the songs here, there are four
that I will never listen to again, four that I like, and two that I love. It's kind of like life.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that I enjoyed the entire thing 23 Jun. 2015

I bought this album because I'm a fan of Caroline Lufkin and she collaborated on parts of it. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I enjoyed the entire thing, not just the parts she worked on.
