This book covers everything you NEED to know. Includes several case studies of different individuals & families on their move to Canada which is a great insight to see how they got on and are living - good to read about real life people and not just the authors opinion !!
Covers very useful info like how much Gas, Electricity, phone & water costs - and even useful facts like there is no TV licence fee. Getting a credit card, opening a bank account, registering & buying a car, the health sysytem, school system & social scene

I had previously bought Tariq Nadeem's book on immigrating but alot of it seems to be transcribed from a statistics book and alot of it is not relevant to Irish or UK citizens - for example they tell you not to bribe the police & that it is custom to form a queue and wait your turn....most people know this !!

Also includes 16 pages of colour photos to inspire you !!

Spoilt by political posturing and waffle 10 Jan 2010
By PK - Published on Amazon.com
Although this book does contain some useful information about Canada, it is spoilt by the author's political posturing and too much waffle.

In a number of places his opinion on very controversial subjects intrudes on what should be a neutral discussion about living in Canada. For example, on p.81 he makes the bizarre claim that video footage of baby seals being clubbed to death is fake. On p.87 he includes a long section about an obscure right-wing premier of Newfoundland and Labrador apparently just to provide another excuse to promote his views on seal-hunting. In other sections he includes diatribes against trade unions.

There are a number of other annoyances in the book. Waffle such as "Different visas take varying amounts of time to process" or "Companies offering charter flights to Canada come and go and prices vary." waste the reader's time.

Perhaps if the author cut out his personal support for clubbing baby seals and removed the waffle which this would be worth reading.
