About the Author
Maja Pitamic has over 15 years' experience teaching children of varying ages and backgrounds. She has Montessori Teacher Training and her specialisation is in Early Years teaching. She has worked with children who have special educational needs, developing their skills through dance, movement, games and gymnastics.

Really beautifully laid out ideas clearly explained for helping children become more independant and giving them a little boost to their confidence. I use this for my 2 year old boy and my 8 year old girl (who is having a bit of trouble with growing up). Life and education skills are well explained and very visual, which is just what young children love. I wish I had this book years ago!! The only thing I wasn't too sure about was the repeation of the importance of washing and keeping clean (obviously yes this is true) but I personally don't make such a big point of this of this as I don't want to start any phobias.

As a registered childminder I am always looking for new activities to do with the children that help them in the EYFS. This book is ideal for suggestions as it also gives the next steps which as anyone who has to do observations on an eyfs child is a key point.
The activities are well thought out and easy to follow to help a child learn basic life skills.

I have bought a few books on Montessori activities for children at home and this is my favourite. The publishing standard is really high: very well laid out, lots of pictures and diagrams, easy to follow instructions. The descriptions of how to present the activities to your child are very 'Montessori' without being excessively prescriptive. All the activities are easy to do at home and don't require any special equipment (there are sheets to copy in the back for a few items). There is a nice progression of activities e.g. from sorting opposites of rough and smooth to identifying different grades of rough and smooth. My mum is a qualified Montessori nursery teacher and also thinks the book is great!

useful resource
This is a useful resource for parents with young children. Ideal for ideas for actvities that help small kids to gain independence.
