I almost enjoyed this book, but it still had some irritating aspects.
Firstly, there were the typos. I can live with the odd one or two, but when the author states that 28 billion people watched the 2002 world cup final, something is wrong.
Also, the author's style wasn't particularly appealing to me, though I will admit that this may have more to do with my preferences than anything else. But subjects that could be interesting or humourous, weren't.
On the plus side, the range of sports covered is immense. Not only are the main ones covered (football, cricket, rugby), but also the 'posh' sports such as rowing, sailing and horse racing.
It's an ideal birthday or christmas present for anyone interested, however slightly, in sport as there will be something for all sport lovers. But how on earth did it get the 'Sunday Time Sports Book of the Year Award'? There must have been better ones than this?
