Another excellent offering from Louise Hay.

Very good value too as you get the book plus the audio version on CD, which is beneficial for listening to on a regular basis so that the ideas become second nature to you and eventually form part of your own belief system, hopefully replacing many of the negative beliefs that may be hampering you in your desire to have a better life.
Unlike some authors, Louise doesn't lead you to believe that you can achieve seemingly impossible things, like learning to fly unaided, or reversing aging so that you can look teenage when you're in your eighties! She's not telling you that you can achieve ANYTHING you desire if only you just 'believe'! - So no need for disappointment when your next lottery ticket does not turn out to be a winner of millions and/or you still haven't managed to knock forty, fifty or sixty years off your appearance to look young again. (Which, let's face it, many people would dearly love to achieve and might come away with the mistaken belief that they could do so, after reading a certain best selling LOA book! No names mentioned!). Instead, Louise shows you how you can make realistic changes by rooting out negative thought patterns where they exist and replacing them with the positive and self loving thoughts that is about acceptance of who you are and what you cannot change, to bring about a self fulfilling lifestyle of constantly learning new and rewarding things and feeling good about yourself as you are, instead of making yourself feel miserable by hankering after things that are always going to remain out of reach. Here, you will find advice on different areas of life, such as money, relationships, creativity, and on how negative beliefs about those areas, often put there by well-meaning parents or friends can thwart your efforts to obtain them.
She touches on a lot of the negative self talk that can underlie much of many people's thinking, even that they may be unaware of, such as the automatic thoughts that some have, like "good people can't be rich" or maybe someone thinking that they lack creativity, or accepting that they will never be any good at a particular thing because someone once said in their childhood that they wouldn't ever be. Louise gives an example from her own life of being told she could never be a dancer, and then learning to dance much later in life. If she had never been told the negative statement early on, she may have learnt much sooner.
She also gives advice on what affirmations to use for when you have such an overwhelming problem or problems that you cannot see any way out of them. Instead of trying to imagine all kinds of outcomes, you merely say a few simple but effective affirmations that engender an acceptance but with the belief that all is working out well in spite of all appearance to the contrary, and with no feeling of having to force or push or worry something into manifestation. It's all about trust in the universe and everything working out to your highest good, without the need to keep fretting and mulling over a problem that you may have little or no control over. This way it takes the pressure off you to be visualisng the correct thing or wondering if you've worded the affirmations right. Louise gives many examples of what you can say for different objectives, and gives examples of negative underlying beliefs or self talk and then gives examples of what to replace them with, which is probably the most helpful aspect of all for anyone struggling with making positive changes in their lives.
The CD is the most helpful thing of all and is best to listen to every night for a month, at Louise's suggestion, but really is good to listen to regularly most nights even after the first month as it may take longer than this if you have had many years of unhelpful thought patterns. Your thoughts cause neural pathways in the brain, and like water travels along the channels of least resistance, so does the thoughts, therefore you need to groove out new neural pathways in your brain, and to do this, you need to adopt the new positive beliefs but this can only happen with constant use. - After all, it took years to form the old neural paths so will take longer than four weeks to form new (and helpful) ones!
The best thing is to listen to the CD on a very regular basis. I cannot see how anyone struggling will not gain at least some help and comfort from listening to Louise's voice on the disc, if not every night then as frequently as possible and certainly when you're feeling down or particularly lacking in hope or motivation. It could even be a life saver for some. Her genuineness and warmth of spirit is very apparent on the recording and this can be a great source of comfort and an aid to ease any suffering of the mind or soul. It certainly can't hurt to give it a try.
For anyone hard of hearing then of couse the book is the option and this contains slightly more than the audio version and can be dipped into at any chapter dealing with whatever aspect you feel you need help with. Really there's something for everyone here. A very worthwhile product indeed.
