Product Description
Frank Sinatra (From Here to Enternity; High Society; Von Ryan's Express) & Shirley MacLaine (The Apartment; Two Mules for Sister Sara; Terms of Endearment; Guarding Tess) star in this film version of the Cole Porter-scored hit Broadway Musical.
Set in 1896, it's the story of vivacious cafe owner MacLaine who performs the naughty Can-Can dance for her patrons, despite the fact that the Paris authorities have banned it !.
She's able to ignore the law because her clever lawyer (Sinatra) has bribed a corrupt Judge (Maurice Chevalier - Gigi), but when a new Judge (Louis Jourdan - Gigi; Swamp Thing; Octopussy) arrives and makes it his mission to put a stop to this immoral behaviour...well the fun is just beginning !.

Format:DVD
Wasn't sure what to expect (Dutch import) even though told it was in English. What a surprise on watching as this DVD has been taken from the Todd AO Version (didn't even know it made in Todd AO) Fabulous clarity with digital remastering and full surround sound. A must for any Cole Porter fans (not forgetting Maurice Chevalier, Shirley MacLaine, Frank Sinatra, Louis Jourdan)

Well, what more could you ask from a musical? The incomparable Sinatra, the divine Miss Shirley Maclean and the swoonsome Monsieur Louis Jordan in the Naughty Nineties of Gay Paris. The story is slight,(centered around the illegal Can Can) but the fabulous Cole Porter score lifts it to the magical: especially my favourites Let's Do It! and the melancholy It's Alright With Me.The stars are always engaging and it has a genuine wit and brio. Hurrah for the movie musical! A real treat.

a classic musical made by 20 century fox,this is based on the broadway musical.The sets ,dance routines,music,songs the acting all are fabulous.Juliet Prowse shows off her dancing prowess (no pun intended),Maurice Chevalier sings ,Frank Sinatra sings and sorta acts,Louis Jordan and Shirley Maclaine AND Cole Porter music and songs!.What more could anyone ask for?Fox always was considered to be less able to do musicals quite as well as mgm but this particular film belies that fact.First class and definately worth getting.
