Product Description

Product Description

The term camouflage only came into widespread use during the First World War, and the specialist camouflage units developed by the combatants at the time put the bulk of their efforts into the concealment of artillery, vehicles, observation posts and bunkers. It was not until the Second World War that all major combatant nations issued camouflage uniforms better designed to disguise profile, and also tailored to the appropriate theatre of war.

An excellent study of the primary camo uniforms of the world. Not intended for the serious academic collector of multiple variants and experimental materials this book will provide everything and more for the average collector. This book stands way above other similar titles for the quality of images alone.

The book have good pics but is too small for covering uniforms all around the world. If you are interested in european uniforms I recommed "Camouflage Uniforms of European and NATO Armies 1945 to the Present" by J. F. Borsarello. For example, in Brayley's book, only appears the actual camo uniform of the Spanish Army. In Bosarello's book appears 6 camo uniforms, the actual and older types.
If you are looking for a comprehensive book I recommend "DPM Disruptive Pattern Material". 2 vol. with huge information, the only problem is the price.

Awesome reference, although it seems incomplete 3 April 2010
By James D. Crabtree - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is a great addition to my military collection. The author has collected color photographs of examples of many of the world's camo uniforms, including many types used by the U.S. However, the organization of the material is kind of hit and miss and it makes me wonder how hard he tried with some countries. One whole category is "South America" and only two pages are dedicated to the nations on that continent. Still, a handy book for such a slim volume.

Great book! 27 Sep 2010
By AOR1 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
This book is not intended to cover every single nations specalist Camos, it does cover the most common and some not so common camos that the average collector may come across. I found this book most useful and the colour photos are of great quality unlike alot tof the other black and White Camouflage books on the market. The Author has clearly put alot of time and effort into producing this book a must have for Camo fans!
An International array of combat attire. 2 Oct 2011

Format:Hardcover
This is a worthy general reference on modern battle-uniforms.

Most of the uniforms featured within date from the mid-2oth century, and even the first decade of the 21st.Its not entirely an all-inclusive listing, but it does give you a good overview of what various modern military units are wearing, or what they did wear. Some of the organizations featured within no longer exist, such as the Soviet Union and Warsaw Pact armies. In fact, the cover features East German N.V.A. soldaten (National Volks Armee). Much of these uniform items are easily available at military-surplus stores.

This is a neat little book, thoroughly packed with vivid color photos, and a great general reference for the military buff.
