I own several cameras and would normally expect each of them to have a sync socket for off camera flash. Well, they all have sockets for proprietry cables that turn out to be quite expensive and dedicated slots for own brand flash heads on camera, again surprisingly expensive. My metz flash will only work with my canon cameras and my flash heads can only be attached, via a sync socket, to the canons also. I recently worked with another photographer on a food shoot and his D60 did not have a sync socket either. Conclusion: spend a few pounds on this adapter and any brand of camera can trigger a flash off camera. From this point of view, the adapter seems indispensible as each brand of camera on the market has its own system for on and off camera flash, presumably to tie you into their own brand exclusively. Cameras are expensive and although I might have a specific reason for choosing a particular camera, I would still like it to work in any situation; for a small outlay, this adapter helps to make that happen.
