This is an excellent little book. It is not a detailed textbook but gives a succinct discussion about a wide range of topics related to Angkor temples. I gives a summary of the history of the background to the temples, the main rulers and founders, and a brief discussion about southeast Asia in the 12-13th century. What I found particularly helpful was the discussion about Khmer architecture and what to look for when going around temples such as Angkor Wat. I also found the discussion about the reliefs and art seen in the temples whilst giving an interpretation of the reliefs. It then goes on to discuss individual temples in the Angkor region.
This has been by far the most practically helpful book I have read so far before my visit to Cambodia.
