all is rosey 28 July 2010
By gwada
Format:Audio CD
This album is a much-deserved stab at mainstream commercial success from a lady who is one of the greatest names in Calypso history. From the majestic ska-pop sing a along of Israel By Bus, to the Calypso lament Back to Africa and a new version of Rose's famous Rum & Coca Cola, every song here is a winner. This is not the purest Calypso, but is pure joy. I absolutely fail to understand how someone could rate this album with a miserly one star.

Very disappointing 31 Aug 2009
Format:Audio CD
Much like the last reviewer I also bought this CD on the strength of a track on the Songlines covermount CD, I also knew very little about calypso. I loved the track on the covermount CD but this sound was the exception rather than the rule and I was rather disappointed with the rest of the album. Ended up taking it off before the end and it has languished in a drawer ever since. If you like calypso then this is probably a very good album from a well respected musician, if however, you don't know much about the genre and like a more upbeat ska like sound then approach with caution.

An amazing work from the kaiso diva! 3 Jun 2009
By Tunecrew - Published on Amazon.com
This album really caught me off guard- definitely a calypso/reggae/folksy album and not a soca album, it reminds me a lot of Roaring Lion's later music in the 90s.

I am not one for detailed analysis- but this is an OUTSTANDING record- it oozes calypso folk but still retains tremendous mellow pop sensibility. Timeless and perhaps Calypso Rose's finest work since "Tempo" and "Fire In Me Wire"
