Book Description

14 April 2010
Of all her theories, Galina Shatalova is still the most famous in Russia for her very low calorie diet. It is well known there that people who followed her system were able to get rid of many ailments and not only restore good health, but improve it to a much higher level. It is also known that the system has been under investigation in the Institute of Space and Aviation Biology, Moscow, where Dr. Shatalova was chief of the Astronauts Training Sector. Her health system was eventually adopted by the Institute and was implemented in the astronauts' training practices. Later Dr. Shatalova founded several so called Health Schools and many of her previously severely ill patients became able to physically perform in extreme environments of high altitudes, deserts, long-distance hiking, marathon, and super marathon.

About the Author

Tanya Zilberter's PhD thesis resulted from her studies of neurons in the brain responsible for hunger and satiety. Later she wrote three academic books concerning broader aspects of the body's control systems and currently, she participates in the studies of energy balance and its influence on fundamental neuronal traits. Starting 1990s, Dr Zilberter writes popular books and articles. During her work at about.com, she posted first articles about Dr. Shatalova's health system and received a lot of feedback from English-speaking people: they tried to find out more about Dr. Shatalova but failed. No information could be found even in the Library of congress. Tanya carefully describes the most important features of Dr Shatalova's system and mentions some of the current trends in the field of calorie restriction and its effects on health and longevity.

2.0 out of 5 stars Interesting method, amateurish writing 28 Sep 2011
By University professor - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I heard about the method and wanted to read more. The book was printed on the day I ordered it and arrive well in time. However, the writer did a poor job in presenting it. There is not a proper construction of the book, only quotes and examples. It is certainly not arranged in any reasonable order... It wouldn't have passed in any university as a paper of first year, not speaking of MD or Dr!
Several paragraph are copied and pasted twice. And the best of all - in one place it says in brackets (click here) :-) I tried clicking but nothing happened...
Recommended to ones who want an easy but unorganized superficial intro to Shatalova's system which doesn't exist in English. The book is readable in less than an hour, if you skik the recepies at the end.
I hope that the author will revised the writing as there are interesting
Ideas there, but poorly put together.

1.0 out of 5 stars I cannot believe I paid for this book 7 Mar 2012
By Inner Smile - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book provides a very poor service to Shatalova's system. I've never thought I would ever buy such a poorly written and poorly edited book from Amazon.com.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rip off 12 Aug 2011
By shirley - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The book is nothing but a collection of pages which aimlessly ramble from one topic to another. No chapter separation and no apparent logic in the presentation of subject matter.

Very little of Dr. Shatalova's thought is actually presented. In my perception, the book is just a collection of pages thrown together.

Don't buy it.
