Unbelievably good 23 Jun 2011
Format:Audio CD
Even by Devin's ridiculously high standards, this is a remarkable, brilliant package. Comprising two albums that exist at opposite ends of the spectrum, this covers alot of ground in terms of genre and content.

Nonetheless, the two albums included here comprise the possible greatest work by one of the greatest living songwriters. Despite being upt to 16 minutes long the songs always know exactly where they're going and come across as focussed, cohesive and ceaselessly inventive. It's truly brilliant.

Staggering. 21 Jun 2011
By A. Taylor VINE™ VOICE
Format:Audio CD
Between Ghost and Deconstruction you have the two polar opposites of the genius of Devin. Deconstruction resurrects the intense, multi layered metal of SYL but with hints of the fun that tracks like Bad Devil brought to the party in his solo work. On the other hand, Ghost is about as ambient as you will hear from any artist, unless you also posses The Hummer and Devlab from Devin's own website. Both albums demand repeated listening and, to be honest, probably won't click with most people on even 2 or 3 listens, but stick with them because the depth of talent on show is simply staggering. I've seen it said before, but Devin is as important, and irreverent, to modern music as Frank Zappa was in the '70s. The man is a true modern musical genius, and I don't use that term lightly.

In Many Ways: Perfect! 25 July 2011
Format:Audio CD
The Devin Townsend Project has been one of the most interesting musical developments of recent years and having followed the work from the beginning (Ki, another amazing work which you must have if you buy this) I can honestly say this is the perfect end to the project (even though we have Ghost 2 coming out later).

The third album brilliantly titled 'Deconstruction' is an amazing theme based musical that starts where 'Addicted' left off. It views the ideas and thoughts that we have as humans and turns them into epic metal masterpieces, but to say Metal would be putting it in a genre that it so easily outstrips. It goes into much more depth musically than any ordinary metal album, the progressions are faultless and the textures are on top form as can be expected from Devin Townsend, a man who creates such dense and complex layered sounds.
'Deconstruction' is an end to the violent part of the project and Its explosive, admittedly it requires a repeat listen to get into fully but it is well worth it, Its one of the finest and heaviest albums to date!

After 'Deconstruction' we arrive at 'Ghost' the final part of the quadrilogy. The mood shifts from anger to serenity and love. The tones and instrumentation are amazing and so chilled it leaves the mind reeling after the "hammer over the head" that is 'Deconstruction'. The subject matter is a lot more peaceful and the songs are a lot more free and open in terms of structure and feel. The vocals are sublime and truly demonstrate this mans talent as a song writer and versatile vocalist. The flutes add an excellent hint of meditative sonarity that separate this work from anything other he has done.

All in all these two albums have worked their way onto my favorites list and will be there indefinitely as far as I can see. The sheer creativity and artistry on display blows anything contemporary out of the water. The technical proficiency and brute ability on offer in these records in astounding. If you love progressive music or Devin Townsend get it now! If you've been following the Project already you should be grabbing this with all your limbs!
Devin is a modern day musical genius, in my book he is very under appreciated.
