Product Description

Product Description

In this book I describe the environment in which we live and organizations operate. It is an environment that has been shaped significantly by computing in the past decade and is going to be even more so in the future. From this standpoint I will review some of the latest research in human psychology, neuroscience, and organization in order to identify ways for computing to address the restraint of fear.

Next, I share my theory and vision for computers to assist organizations to become more energized, meaning that they will have the necessary abilities to survive and to succeed. Energy in this sense is the unleashing of human and organizational potential, but it is also about using computing in revolutionary new ways; for humans and computers to work autonomously and in some cases "bend time". Finally, I take the energized organization and add the strategic mind on top of it. The mind in this case is a combined human and computer effort; it is up to the leaders and managers to exploit computing to its very limits and to its full potential.

About the Author

Morten Middelfart has been interested in computers since childhood, when he developed and sold a computer game at the age of 14. He continued to expand his computer expertise in the military, and then started a business intelligence and analytics software company, which was later acquired by TARGIT, where he is now head of R&D and the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). He recently received his Ph.D. from Rushmore University where he researched the ways people make decisions, both in terms of the intelligence and the intuition behind it.

Brilliant book 7 Nov 2005
This is definitely one of the very best books that I have read in terms of utilizing computers for business development. The book is highly visionary and at the same time incredible realistic. After you have read the book, you can take the ideas and philosophies of the book and implement them in your organization right away.

Computer Aided Leadership & Management (CALM) is a fantastic new approach. I would say that the book is a must read for all business managers, CEO’s, CTO’s, IT managers and other decision makers. The book puts IT aided tools in a whole new brilliant perspective to manage your business.

The book is filled with examples, which makes it very enjoyable and understandable. I recommend the book to all companies that need inspiration to gain competitive advantages.

Computers as leaders? 17 Feb 2009
By J. Mark Bickerton - Published on Amazon.com
This unique book explores the relationship between computers and its role in leadership management. No other text (to my awareness) has been written that captures and speculates on this topic involving "symbiotic links" that exist between potential computer-human interventions. The authors future predictions are both exciting and scary. Being a groundbreaking text though, one needs to be cautious in drawing overblown conclusions (as there are very few prior 'factual' references, studies or standards on which the author can cite to justify his evaluations). Thus despite an exhaustive bibliography, much of what is written here-in boils down to the authors opinions; yet there is enough 'food for thought' here that his conclusions cannot be easily dismissed either...
