This book is by far the best account of British troops in Afghanistan. Paddy has the ability to make you feel like you are a member of his platoon and involved in the action. As an ex member of the Regiment and also of 7plt C Coy, albeit before these exploits, I really resonated with a lot of the things Paddy mentions. I also know a number of the soldiers mentioned throughout. Paddy does not try to portray himself as the big man, like a lot of other military authors do, he gives what appears to be a very honest account throughout and I think this adds to the quality of the book. This book has it all the ups and the downs - a must read for military enthusiasts and actually perhaps those not so interested in military books, because ultimately it is a story about bravery, courage, love and friendship. A great book about the best regiment in the British Army. Faugh a Ballagh.
