I enjoyed Danielle Spencer's debut album "White Monkey", so I was really looking forward to "Calling All Magicians". But, while her musicianship and haunting, lilting voice are as great as ever, the content of the album has left me underwhelmed. Too many songs sound almost indistinguishable from tracks on "White Monkey", in some cases it sounds very much as though tunes from "White Monkey" have been "re-packaged" with new lyrics.
If this is your first experience of Danielle Spencer's music, I would definitely recommend the album, but existing fans might be disappointed.

i'm new to danielle spencers work, but i have to say i've been blown away by this album! beeing a huge fan of the likes of kate bush, tori amos and delta goodrem this album is a real treat for me. danielle is a very talented singer- songwriter, i love the harmonies of her own backing vocals and her songs are a breath of fresh air compared to todays so called musical artists! my favourite tracks at the moment are the red door, citizen, i wish i'd been here and of course the title track calling all magicians - in a word MAGIC!!!!!

I love Dani Spencer's voice and I really thought I had already posted a review. Anyway, if you have Russell's new music you can hear her beautiful soprano in the duets but if you want to hear more of her music, this is the album for you. Kinda like Kate Bush. Very ethereal.
