Social comment? Ignore the whiney London-based ellitism of Lily Allen. Overlook the northern Arctic Monkeys' twang. Forget about Mike Skinner's monotone drone. What you want is this.

The witty lyrics never descend into a joke; there's an overriding sense of realism which gives each song, and indeed the whole album, a poignancy that the chart ticklers lack. And all this over an unashamedly uncomplicated (see 'Musical Differences') country/blues with doo-wop backing vocals backdrop which doesn't threaten to jump all over the place and offend your ear drums.

Its a pity that this album will inevitably be overlooked by the masses who opt instead for the bands that the NME champion until their haircuts are no longer in vogue. But in the same way, the modest nature of it is probably best kept to an exclusive, high-flying Trampy-blessed fanclub.

It's full of imperfections - wrong notes here and there, slightly out of tune crooning and suspect production - but it doesn't matter, because isn't that how life is? And that's just the thing. Tramp Attack remind you that life, despite its pitfalls, really isn't that bad after all.

This album must rank as one of the best ever to come out of Liverpool. In a city that has produced many cult bands/records ("The La's", "The Stairs" and "Half man half biscuit" to name but three) you'd think that the well would of dried up by now but no.

From start to finish this album is a stone cold classic and far out strips all of their peers second album efforts. That's The Coral, The Zutons and The Stands. All of which failed to live up to their hype or just plain ran away from it (The Coral).

If you like Jonathan Richman, Lonnie Donegan, Earl Scruggs, The Crickets and Monty Python than this an album for you. It effortlessly strings these things together to make something rare, beautiful and original! Where else can you hear songs that look into the heart of simple day to day life. Like the effects of getting a haircut ("Shortback and sides") or avoiding that certain sombody ("Late night shopping") and even the importance of being able to swim ("Learn To Swim")! In a world where the pop charts are full of bloated self important drug addicts this is a band that stands alone and has produced a rare album of brillance that'll leave you with a natural warm glow inside of you. I can't stress enough how good this album is, so if you're thinking about buying it then stop thinking and just buy. I implore you!
