The first album, Call me irresponsible, features songs from various movies. He had already recorded another album of movie songs, Moon river and other great movie themes, but there was no shortage of songs to choose from and this album proves it. Perhaps the most famous songs here are Love letters and I’ll never stop loving you, but there are many great songs here, all superbly sung by Andy.
The second album focuses on Broadway. The first six songs are from My fair lady. Of these, the first three (On the street where you live, I’ve grown accustomed to her face, I could have danced all night) have become standards, regularly covered down the years. The other three (Get me to the church on time, Wouldn’t it be loverly, Show me) may not match the exceptional quality of the first three but they all sound great here. The remaining six songs come from other Broadway productions and include such classics as Hello Dolly and People.
There are many Andy Williams twofers to choose from, all of a high quality, but this one is particularly interesting.
