Product Description

Review

This book is a delightful puzzle for a small reader and ends in a good joke. On the way, there is much to marvel at in the intricate beauty of the animal world so intensely conveyed in Alexandra Milton s stunning collage. --Books for Keeps

A début picture book that not only deserves to be examined closely, but also stood well back from and gazed at in awe. --Bookseller

About the Author

Giles Milton is an insomniac who spends his sleepless nights inventing friendly monsters and fabulous beasts. When not writing stories for children, he writes history books for adults. And when he's not writing history, he's probably working on a novel. His desk is less than three feet from his wife's, but they argue surprisingly rarely. Call Me Gorgeous! is Giles' first book for children.

Alexandra Milton was born in Paris where she studied art and English. She draws inspiration from her father and grandfather, both distringuished artists from Germany. She was brought up on a diet of beautifully illustrated children's books. Alexandra worked as a primary school teacher before becoming a full-time illustrator. She lives in London with her insomniac husband and three daughters.

This book has the most sumptious illustrations, and is facinating to both toddlers and parents alike, particularly at the end when you get to match up the animal body parts with the animal they originated. Continues to be a favourite. Think that this is a classic, along with Hairy Maclary Series and The Tiger Who Came to Tea. Highly recommend this.

Gorgeous, indeed! and so much more 23 July 2013
By M. Heiss - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
This book can be used as an inspiration for your imaginative child to create a similar signature work, incorporating many elements of different animals (or buildings, or robots, or trucks, or whatever your own child is passionate/knowledgable about) and then illustrating . Wonderful end papers pull the whole thing together. Great for an older student's project -- this picture book is not just for little children.
