Product Description

Product Description

Lord Brocket of Brocket Hall appeared to be just the token toff when he took part in the 2004 series of the hit ITV show I'M A CELEBRITY, GET ME OUT OF HERE! But in a matter of days he had become the life and soul of the party, bonding with such unlikely camp-mates as Johnny Rotten and fondling Jordan and Alex Best. With his unfailing bonhomie and irrepressible sense of fun, Brocket helped make the show compulsive viewing and endeared him to millions. Now, in this hilarious and candid autobiography, he tells his incredible story in full. From his silver-spoon childhood to a life of great wealth, fast cars and faster women, Lord B experienced a lifestyle granted to only a select few -- even among the aristocracy. But an error of judgement led to a stunning change of fortune, when an ill-advised scheme to help him save his ancestral home led to conviction for fraud and prison. But if his spell in the British Army had shown Brocket a world beyond debutantes and diamonds, a spell at Her Majesty's pleasure stripped him of any sense of being a class apart. Brocket emerged a humbler man, still a peer of the realm but one who had really seen how the other half lived. This is his story: full of tall tales, all the more amazing for being true, and told with the warmth and wit of one of the last great eccentrics.

I read this book having seen the TV series 'I'm a celebrity get me out of here' which was responsible for bringing Lord Brocket back to the publics attention.

A number of years ago Lord Brocket was tore apart by the British media in the usual tabloid and broadsheet 'lets make up our stories' fashion with little regard to the truth or facts so long as it increased their sales figures. While he admits he done wrong the manner in which he was treated by the government and the media was nothing short of disgusting.

The book provides a funny and extremely heart-warming account of his life to date. Like other reviewers I read this book in 3 days as I just could not put it down.

It is absolutely clear that Lord Borcket or 'Charlie' as he likes to be called, is actually one of life's really good people who for one reason or another has had a bit of a raw deal. OK he was privileged from birth but when you read this story you may asked yourself was he really privileged at all?

A fantastic read and for me the best book I read in 2006. Keep smiling Charlie as when you smile you make other people smile.

what a life 22 Jan 2010

I always thought Charlie Brockett was full of himself, until I read this story, Charlie comes across as a lonely guy always looking for acceptance. He did his time and not without toughening up. I thoroughly enjoyed the biography
