Manufacturer's Description

Call of Juarez the Cartel Image 1 Screen 2 Screen 3 Screen 4

Call of Juarez: The Cartel is the third installment of the Western action shooter video game franchise, Call of Juarez. Call of Juarez: The Cartel includes the same attributes of a great Western shooter, upgraded to reflect modern times. For instance, instead of outlaws and brothels, you'll find cartel kingpins and strip clubs. But make no mistake, the spirit of the Wild West is still very much alive. You'll experience the lawlessness of the old country as you fight to take down a powerful drug cartel in a world where every man is out for himself.

Experience a Gripping, Cinematic Story

When a Mexican drug cartel bombs a U.S. law enforcement agency, the U.S. government puts together a special task force to hunt them down. Play as Ben McCall, a brutal LAPD cop and descendent of Ray McCall, or Eddie Guerra, a DEA agent with a chronic-gambling habit, or gang-affiliated street kid turned FBI agent, Kim Evans. As you dig into the mystery of the bombing and fight to dismantle the cartel, you'll embark on a blood-soaked road trip through California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and, ultimately, Juarez, Mexico.

Key Features
  • Play the entire campaign with two friends in the three-player online cooperative mode
  • Huge selection of weapons including pistols, machine guns, sniper rifles, anti-air weapons and more
  • Wide variety of maps and missions including raids, witness protection, interrogation, undercover missions, shootings in a crowd, car chases and more
  • Addictive multiplayer modes

McCall often has good intentions of upholding the law… but doesn't mind crossing a moral boundary or two in the name of justice.

Eddie Guerra Eddie Guerra
Agency: Drug Enforcement Administration
Age: 37
Gender: Male
Weapons of Choice: Submachine guns, rifles, shotguns

After growing up on the streets of East LA and serving his country in Iraq, Eddie Guerra has established himself as one of the top DEA agents in the country. A smooth talker, ladies' man, and renowned gambler, Guerra is a risk taker in all aspects of his life. He has no qualms about taking out bad guys and lives by the motto "the ends justify the means".

Kim Evans Kim Evans
Agency: Federal Bureau of Investigation
Age: 25
Gender: Female

She is an intelligent, street-savvy agent who knows how to get the job done. Ruthless with a rifle, she demands respect from her partners and will stop at nothing to bring the Cartel leaders to their knees.

OMG, first of all I'm a massive ubisoft fan, the first two call of Juarez games were amazing. Never mind the prince of Persia games. Ubisoft rocks, (usually). What have you done? The graphics are pathetic, even my girlfriend who knows nothing about games commented on how dated this 'new' game looked that I was playing. The menus look like ms dos before windows was invented. I sooo wanted this game to be good like the two legends that came before it. They were visually stunning and the gameplay kept me entertained for days. This new addition left me wondering what the trade in value would be after an hour of so called gameplay. Do yourself a favour and give this a miss. Hopefully ubisoft will take heed and revert back to their usual high standards.
What a disappointment. Really wanted this to be good.

Quite simply.... it's cack.

Don't waste your money like I did. I played it for about an hour (which I'll never get back again)and hated it.

Dissapointing.. 2 Oct 2011

Fun:
After seeing the trailer for this game I envisioned a storyline not too dissimilar to GTA, taking out notorious drug traffickers and feeling kick ass doing it. So, I decided to buy it for what I considered to be a reasonable price. I played the game once on the day I bought it and after about an hour it went in my cupboard and hasn't come out since.
The graphics are terrible considering it is supposed to be a "new"-ish game and the cutscenes dragged. Grey-suited government officials sat around a desk discussing politics and tactical measures isn't my idea of an enthralling storyline.
The repetive gameplay; trek to beacon, gang shoot out, leg it with the goods, would have been easy to dismiss if it weren't for the characters and weapons. Half the time I found myself, guns at the ready, whilst the opposition hid behind trees and fired off the occasional round and of the 3 characters you can choose from, none are likeable. During the game their snide comments and sneers did little to endear them to me and I found myself wanting to shoot them rather than the AI goons.
To give it credit there were moments where the game was kicked up a notch, such as when a chopper took the front off a building I was in and I thought something good was about to happen before realising there was a rocket launcher right in front of me and taking it out in one shot. Concepts such as slowing down time in order to fire off several rounds before your enemy can so much as blink made bursting into a room full of enemies quite entertaining. And being set secret missions to achieve right under your teammates nose without being caught added ingenious twists that you could've appreciated, however the poor graphics and accompanying glitches meant that the game left a lot to be desired.
Overall I wouldn't recommend buying this game, though it does have some positive aspects, I wish I'd saved my money for a game I knew for sure would bring me enjoyment and hours of play.

Great fun, but has it's faults.
I gave this game 5/5 for fun, and 3/5 for overall, because it does have it's faults. I have just completed the story mode, which I found very addictive to play. Read more
