Product Description

Powered by Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare technology, Call of Duty: World at War brings an uncensored edge to combat, as soldiers face the most harrowing and climatic European and Pacific battles in which an enemy, who knows no surrender and no retreat, will fight to the last breath, unleashing an arsenal of lethal surprising tactics. Peril and danger lurk throughout the battlefield as players combat the unknown risk of the new chaos of battle.

From the remains of Russia and the ruins of Berlin, to the beach and jungles of the deadly Pacific Theater, the volatile action takes on added depth as players employ new features that previously were only available in multiplayer, including perks, rankings and online stats in up to full four-player co-operative gameplay. New infantry and vehicle-based weapons, like the potent flamethrower, bring the battlefield ablaze.
Final Battles: Call of Duty: World at War forces players to survive the final climactic days of a world at war to thwart the advance of Axis powers on multiple fronts from Europe to the Pacific - delivering the hallmark Call of Duty cinematic intensity on a worldwide scale. Play as a U.S. Marine or Russian conscript across a variety of European and Pacific infantry, vehicle and airborne missions.
Co-Op Campaign Mode: "No One Fights Alone" takes on new meaning as players can complete the entire single-player campaign with up to four players online or two players via split-screen (both online and offline). Strategising with others provides gameplay diversity, replayability and engagement.
Addictive Multiplayer: Call of Duty: World at War continues the addictive and leading class-based multiplayer action. The addition of vehicles to the highly-successful Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare multiplayer that already includes persistent experience, player rankings, upgradeable weapons, squad-based gameplay, map scripting, customisable classes and perks, brings a ne

4.0 out of 5 stars COD World at War 6 Feb 2012

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
The game is well put together and has a good story line.
The graphics are pretty good and I did enjoy playing through the campaign.
On harder levels there is a huge amount of grenades from the enemy which made the veteran option very frustrating at times.
If you are not bothered about Gamer score then I would advise playing through on hard rather than veteran.

The online section of this game is no good at all. NOT because of the game design etc., but because you cant get a game that has not been hacked or modified in some way.

I was really disappointed by this and I am also suprised that nothing seems to be done about it, especially as the DLC for this game is pretty expensive.
Luckily I didnt buy any of the DLC and I would not advise anyone else to waste their money on the DLC as in my opinion it is unplayable due to the sheer number of mods and cheats.

In conclusion

4/5 for the campaign

0/5 for the multiplayer

5.0 out of 5 stars Call of Duty World at War 2 Nov 2012

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I have just got this game and must say it is truely amazing.
I know that it is four years after it was released, I never really payed any attention to it when it was released due to playing Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3. I recently downloaded the demo and found it to be so much fun that I had to buy this game to play it all the way through.
I am one of those rare people who play Call of Duty for the story and then play the multiplayer as an added on thing. The campaign in this is truly amazing, I am less than half way through and I am loving it. You get to play as an American Marine in The Pacific and a Russian soilder in Germany. So far the missions have been varied and it is one of the best storys that I have played. All of this is added to by the visuals and sound effects, they are spectacular. It uses the Call of Duty 4 engine but it looks brilliant and I think it infact looks better than COD4. The sound effects though are the main thing that gets your heart pounding, with bullets, grenades and mortars all going off around you, it helps to get you further into the action.
Now, the multiplayer. I have played it for a couple of hours now and it is so much fun. The only thing that has disappointed me is that I have found three or four hacked games, I have only played one on Call of Duty 4 and none on Call of Duty 2,3 and Modern Warfare 2 and 3. I expected that Treyarch would stop this as ban the people setting them up as they take away the fun. There are plenty of guns and perks for you to make a class with. Some of the weapons are too powerful though like the sub-machine guns, especially the MP40. The killstreaks from Call of Duty 4 have been replaced with Recon Plane, Artillery and Dogs.

I held out for ages before purchasing this game for my son, all his friends have had it for ages. (Xbox should really try to bring out some more child friendly games)! After playing it with him (Zombies made me scream) I am pleased to report neither of us have turned in to psychopaths!

5.0 out of 5 stars Utterly Intense War Game 8 Feb 2014
By Stelin
I am a huge fan of war games and have bought, played and completed several times most titles that have been released in the lifetime of the Xbox360. I have recently been playing COD Ghosts, Black Ops II etc and was getting a little tired of all the hum-drum remote drone strikes and taking control of remote controlled guns, dogs, sheep, geese or whatever other turd the developers want to throw in of late. I was thirsty for some WWII action and decided to pick up another copy of WAW after trading my first copy some time ago. I'm really glad I did.

The graphics still fair very well in current times and the sound is simply awesome, especially when your tv/speakers are turned up loud. The gameplay must rate as one of the most intense gaming experiences of modern times. The sheer volume of enemies, the way they run at you with bayonets ready and scream their deathly wishes at you is nothing short of fantastic. This is a proper war game where the action never lets up. The game feels very open and free compared to the on-rails style that seems to have plagued many modern releases and it grips you by the collar and pulls you in until you've defeated every last enemy soldier. Guns, grenades, tanks and an aeroplane section are all included, all of which are executed in style and leave the current COD titles kicking in the shadows. No silly remote controlled nonsense, just you, your gun and your enemy. BANZI!

A game worthy of any collection. This is at the top of its genre. Get it now, you will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game - and zombies too! 2 Jan 2014
By MR
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This was the first FPS that I got into on the Xbox 360, and it was a really good adventure, with a story that kept you interested without getting in the way. The usual COD controls made it easy to use, and the varying missions kept you playing. The icing on the cake though, are the 'zombie' missions, which are the best bit of the game in my opinion - defeat wave after wave of undead mutants with whatever weapons you can find! Great multiplayer fun if you have Xbox Live. 10/10 :)
