Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

The call of duty needs answering once again, as the blockbusting first person shooter series returns to the modern day. A direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, you now play new character Sgt Gary "Roach" Sanderson. Your commander is "Soap" from the first game as you join a multinational anti-terrorist squad out to stop Russian ultra nationalists.

Watch your squad grow from inexperienced rookies to veteran warriors
A snowmobile race is just one of the new vehicle sections
Modern Warfare 2 is a direct sequel to Call of Duty 4
You'll journey all around the world in the fight against terrorism

The story mode features an even more varied series of locales than before, including a snowbound mission that starts with a daredevil mountain climb and ends with a high speed snowmobile chase as you make your escape. With other levels set in Afghanistan, Rio de Janeiro and even underwater this has more action than a dozen Hollywood blockbusters.

But that's just the single player mode - the multiplayer is even more ground-breaking than before, with new co-op options and even more rewards and perks for competitive play.

Key Features
  • Call of Warfare - Stunning cinematic action, including new underwater missions, new gadgets such as the motion detector and new vehicles including snowmobiles and more.
  • Rough guide - Massive globe-spanning adventure sees you travelling to the deserts of Afghanistan, the slums of Rio de Janerio and the wilderness of Russia.
  • Bigger world - New larger levels allow you to tackle missions however you want: will you try a frontal assault or a more stealthy approach from another angle?
  • Special co-op - New Special Ops mode will introduce two player co-operative play for the first time, in a series of non-story missions.
  • Be the best - Competitive multiplayer is even bigger and better than before, with new kill streak rewards that unlock everything from supply drops to a AC-130 gunship attack.
About the Developer: Infinity Ward
After working on Medal of Honor: Allied Assault for EA, Infinity Ward's first game as their own company was fellow World War II title Call of Duty. Since then the California company has never had time to do anything else, as the ongoing series has become one of the best-selling of all time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Game But Still Overrated 23 Nov 2009
By D. Low
Platform for Display:Xbox 360|Edition:Normal
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Its been two weeks now since I picked up Modern Warfare 2 and my opinion of the game has definately changed from my first week of play. Had I reviewed the game days after I got it my review would be filled with gushing praise for the incredibly exciting action packed campaign and the subtle alterations to the already classic multiplayer.
However a little more time with it and the cracks are definately beginning to show.

The single player campaign is great fun and although a little short at 6 hours every second is packed with edge of the seat action and it never drags. Having completed the previous COD4 on Veteran I decided to try the same with MW2. Its incredibly easy and nowhere near the challenge of its predecessor and definitley a dissapointment in this respect.

As good as the single player is the storyline and some of the situations are ridiculous. Now I'm not saying COD4 was realistic (I've never fought in a war I wont pretend to know), but it was believable, sometimes scarily so as in the Death From Above and All Ghillied Up missions. There is nothing here that ever touches the stark drama of those levels. If COD4 could be compared to a film like Black Hawk Down then MW2 is more akin to Michael Bay directing James Bond. These are minor complaints though of an overall fantastic campaign.

The biggest problem I have is with the multiplayer. The new killstreak rewards, the incredibly large maps and the new overpowering weapons and attachments have ruined the perfect balance of COD4. The levels favour long range weapons and have made running and gunning almost impossible. Each map has hundreds of hiding places that favour snipers(who I dont mind) and campers(who shall have a special place in hell just for them).

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't hate the game, hate the player 30 Jun 2010
Platform for Display:Xbox 360|Edition:Normal
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
First off, people who say that this game is prone to millions of hackers and an impossible amount of people not playing properly clearly can't play this game very well. It's not without its faults - campers, noob tubes and other nuissances BUT they're just ways of playing the game - tactics which can be beaten without too much hassle. People who winge about them are just not very good at it

Now yes it is slightly unbalanced at times, with glitches on a few of the weapons that Infinity Ward works to patch, and rewards for killstreaks can get annoying but there is a counter for almost everything in the form of perks. You can pick holes in nearly every argument that people use to say that this game is bad

Except the campaign. Weak story but pretty fun to play. Veteran mode is very difficult but beatable and the Spec-Ops is a huge challenge without a friend to help...and aren't much fun anyway. The main hook is the online and despite what people say (and I'll be the first to admit it's the most frustrating online games I've ever played), it is a fantastic multiplayer

2.0 out of 5 stars Oh dear - single player a big disappointment 14 Dec 2009
Platform for Display:Xbox 360|Edition:Normal
Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
My first review - I've taken the trouble as I don't play online - like a lot of my generation i suspect, and i figured this opinion could therefore be helpful

Based on the the off-line game only, this was a real let-down.
I never knew which character I was playing, it jumped around too much. I struggled to tell where in the world I was meant to be, the plot or story just went over my head in an orgy of waypoint-to-waypoint run and gun scenarios.

The game feels like it's on rails, there were no options, tactics or approaches to be learned, it's far too scripted and restricted. Of course it looks and sounds great, but that's hardly enough. If you are expecting some of the tension experienced last time you were in the SAS with Soap McTavish, you'll be very disappointed indeed.
Fallout 3, a so-called RPG is a far better shooter, GoW, Halo, Dead Space and even Black on the X-box are better too.

I wanted to love this, but like far too many games now, it's all about the on-line experience.
Hopefully, Demon's Souls will restore my faith - I'll let you know.

5.0 out of 5 stars must buy its great fun 22 Sep 2011
Platform for Display:Xbox 360|Edition:Normal
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
ive never really been into shooters but this game now has me hooked

ignore the bad reviews its pretty good the graphics are nice the weapons are cool the areas are great

it starts out with a tutorial in the campaign so you get the feel of the game then just after its action all the way theres like 10 different locations each mission is pretty long but over all the story seems abit quick as i can complete it in say 6 hours none stop game play then you got the special ops but that can take weeks to complete

i do agree with some gamers special ops is repetitive you know constantly doing the same level over and over again just because its easy to die maybe thats just me cause im not used to this type of game but i have completed the campaign in all difficulty:

and ive got nearly all the stars in special ops my sore now is 79.7% 55/69 ive done pretty good but its took a few months to do the juganuts mission kill 10 bullet proof men with only granades no guns at all is pretty impossible lost count on the times ive tried to do it they very hard to kill

i have 2 issues with it sometimes i get stuck and my character doesnt move and end up getting killed also on campaign ive done all levels listed above and my stats are stuck at 85%, now i gotta collect 45 intel items i havent a clue what they are wish the developers explains what is what?

over all:
i really enjoyed playing this game love the graphics who ever made this did a good job im now looking for a new call of duty to play think i'll go for black ops sounds like fun but this MW2 is good id highly recommend it BUY IT NOW you wont be disappointed
over all score 9/10

Yet another addition to Wills collection. He loves his "Call of Duty" set. Pity his "Call of Duty" doesn't include doing his chores - cleaning his room, etc. etc
