Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

The call of duty needs answering once again, as the blockbusting first person shooter series returns to the modern day. A direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, you now play new character Sgt Gary "Roach" Sanderson. Your commander is "Soap" from the first game as you join a multinational anti-terrorist squad out to stop Russian ultra nationalists.

Watch your squad grow from inexperienced rookies to veteran warriors
A snowmobile race is just one of the new vehicle sections
Modern Warfare 2 is a direct sequel to Call of Duty 4
You'll journey all around the world in the fight against terrorism

The story mode features an even more varied series of locales than before, including a snowbound mission that starts with a daredevil mountain climb and ends with a high speed snowmobile chase as you make your escape. With other levels set in Afghanistan, Rio de Janeiro and even underwater this has more action than a dozen Hollywood blockbusters.

But that's just the single player mode - the multiplayer is even more ground-breaking than before, with new co-op options and even more rewards and perks for competitive play.

Key Features
  • Call of Warfare - Stunning cinematic action, including new underwater missions, new gadgets such as the motion detector and new vehicles including snowmobiles and more.
  • Rough guide - Massive globe-spanning adventure sees you travelling to the deserts of Afghanistan, the slums of Rio de Janerio and the wilderness of Russia.
  • Bigger world - New larger levels allow you to tackle missions however you want: will you try a frontal assault or a more stealthy approach from another angle?
  • Special co-op - New Special Ops mode will introduce two player co-operative play for the first time, in a series of non-story missions.
  • Be the best - Competitive multiplayer is even bigger and better than before, with new kill streak rewards that unlock everything from supply drops to a AC-130 gunship attack.
About the Developer: Infinity Ward
After working on Medal of Honor: Allied Assault for EA, Infinity Ward's first game as their own company was fellow World War II title Call of Duty. Since then the California company has never had time to do anything else, as the ongoing series has become one of the best-selling of all time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nearly perfect 6 April 2012

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Ive had this game since launch day, well i did get rid of it at one stage, but missed it too much.So i got it again.Mw1 was a classic game, this the follow up was better in many ways, but had some annoying things about it.The campaign was a little overblown and hard to follow at times, but a complete blast nonetheless.

Spec Ops was also a fantastic add on,which i spent many hours playing, and still do.Most people buy it for the online and thats where I spent most of my time.

I'm not a great online player, but this made me feel like one.Loads of gun options, improved killstreaks, and more game types than you can shake a stick at.If something feels overpowered, then there's usualy an answer.I say usualy rather than always, because there's some stupidly overpowered perks and killsteaks.Tactical nuke,Sawn off shotguns, noob tubes, one man army.there's others but I'm not going into them.People also complain about harriers and attack helicopters, but the stinger missile sorts those out.

It may sound like I don't like this game, but the truth is I love it!.For every negative there's three positives. It's chaotic, fast paced and completely insane. The community is still massive and I think alot of people left for Mw3,but some are creepng back.

The value for money is incredible.I think ive spent around four days on this game, that sounds sad,but its nothing compared to some people. For my money this game is better than Mw3,Mw3 is good,But this is great.

If your thinking of buying this game, buy it!!,you wont regret it.Also the Hackers have been removed.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love it! 2 Oct 2012

Russians invading America, Predator Drone strikes, a controversial mission so offensive you are asked if you want to even play it,
Modern Warfare 2 is most definitely an action packed game with added improvements to the online multiplayer, a special ops missions mode, and an extremely fast paced campaign Modern Warfare 2 definitely surpasses its predecessor while tweaking the improvements from Call of Duty: World at War's online multiplayer.

The story of this game follows up what you accomplished in the last game. The warlord Zhakaev had a dog on a leash and after his demise the dog is unleashed in the new madman Soviet terrorist-Makarov. His introduction is quite an eye opener depending on how you play this game because immediately after starting this game up you are asked if you want to play an "offensive mission" or skip it. Apparently the CIA did not learn their lesson with Sam Fisher from the Splinter Cell series about making people infiltrate terrorist groups. An incident sets off Russia and causes them to blitz America big time resulting in the special ops task force 141 lead by your friendly neighborhood British chaps having to hunt down Makarov and the US Rangers having to defend America one burger joint at a time. Considering how many World War Three games have already come out for the Xbox 360, I think the story goes too fast and you already know somebody on the good guys' team is wearing a different jersey soon after the first few missions. I think games like Frontlines Fuel of War does a much better job of giving us a World War Three type of scenario compared to what Modern Warfare 2 offers.

Modern Warfare 2 has a very action packed campaign that will blow you away in terms of game play and mission variety. The missions range from a convoy attack in Afghanistan to chasing a suspects and infiltrating enemy bases in your ghillie suit. In a lot of ways there is not much of a change to the campaign compared to the first Modern Warfare's campaign. Enemies will appear from out of nowhere, above, below, and behind you while playing on the harder difficulties will have you crawling to the next thin piece of cover to stay alive. Also missing from the campaign is the ability to play a coop on it. The campaign coop on World at War was really fun to enjoy.

Online was great with a huge variety of weapons , equipment & kill streaks however as mentioned by many beware of hackers (my advice is to search Mercenary TDM as there seems to be less hackers, although you will encounter a few people using the UAV Hack which basically means they have "advanced UAV" on their radar constantly and unfortunately there is no way to counter this (cold blooded perk will not counter the hack).

Overall a brilliant game imo, spec ops is so much more fun than zombies and keeps you entertained for days on end & the multiplayer as i said is well balanced with tonnes of weapons, perks and equipment - a whole lotta fun, if only Sony/Infinity Ward could somehow block cheats/hackers it would be less frustrating trying to play online :)

5.0 out of 5 stars An absolute masterpeice. . . 10 Nov 2009

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I've had this game for a couple of days now and if you wondering whether to buy this or not, the simple answer is, yes. One might have thought with all the press attention and hype surrounding this new title that the game could never possibly live up to expectations, but it most certainly does, and even exceeds expectations in certain areas.

First off, single player. Now, being honest the campaign isn't massily long, if your playing on regualar difficulty, expect to play for around 4-6 hours, however, ramp it up to veteran difficulty and you can make that 20+ (serioulsy, its hard!) But I think that the campain can be summed up best by the phrase "short and sweet", the plot is very well laid out and the cinematics are truly outstanding. There is also no lack of variety in this game either, not to spoil the plot, but you'll find yourself fightly in vastly different settings throughout the whole campaign which really does give the campaign an epic feeling. Overall the single player is well rounded and truly an astonashingly cinematic experience which you cannot afford to miss.

Now, to what most people buy COD for, the multiplayer. If you've played COD4, then you will instantly fell right at home with MW2. However, this doesn't mean it hasn't changed. The massive new list of guns, perks, kilstreaks, unlockables will have you playing for years. In all my years of gaming I have never played a more well rounded online multiplayer experience. The multiplayer is genuinly worth the £.. alone.

Also thrown into the mix is spec ops mode, which sees you take on a variety of different missions in 2-player co-op (Splitcreen/online) which range from holding down positions against waves of oncoming enemies to snomobile races which are absolutely hilarious! This is a great addition to the game just as Nazi zombies was to CODW@W - but better with more variety.

Overall, I serioulsy cannot fault this game. The single player experience is epic and the multiplayer is unrivalled by anything on the market, and with spec ops throw into the mix, this is an absolute MUST BUY.
