Great game - Ruined,
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PS3) (Video Game)
Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 2 was, in my opinion the greatest Call of Duty released to date. The campaign is thoroughly enjoyable, the graphics are superb and the online play was the best of any FPS on the market.
Key word being was. Unfortunately this once great game has been completely ruined by hackers. You boot up the game join what you think is a regular game of Team Death Match only to find on being spawned you are instantly killed by some loser sitting at the spawn firing a Sniper Rifle at a wall. The people that are using the hack don't even try to hide it as you see on the kill cam exactly what they are doing. This will occur several times before the 25 kill streak Nuke is used to end the game. Completely unplayable. For those that have spent hours of game play time ranking up and unlocking achievements - beware. These hackers will simply delete your progress with a push of a button completely reseting your profile back to level 1. Black Ops it is from now on. Hopefully Infinity Ward will learn from Treyarch and introduce security measures within the game/servers on Modern Warfare 3 rather than rely on the security of the Playstation itself. It has been said that Infinity Ward have produced a patch which is currently being tested, but by the time its released I feel a large following may have already given up a joined the Black Ops club. A real shame. I don't understand what is gained from using such a joke hack which proves absolutely nothing apart from the fact that you must be completely useless at the game in the first place to even consider using it.

An absolute masterpeice. . .,
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PS3) (Video Game)
I've had this game for a couple of days now and if you wondering whether to buy this or not, the simple answer is, yes. One might have thought with all the press attention and hype surrounding this new title that the game could never possibly live up to expectations, but it most certainly does, and even exceeds expectations in certain areas.
First off, single player. Now, being honest the campaign isn't massily long, if your playing on regualar difficulty, expect to play for around 4-6 hours, however, ramp it up to veteran difficulty and you can make that 20+ (serioulsy, its hard!) But I think that the campain can be summed up best by the phrase "short and sweet", the plot is very well laid out and the cinematics are truly outstanding. There is also no lack of variety in this game either, not to spoil the plot, but you'll find yourself fightly in vastly different settings throughout the whole campaign which really does give the campaign an epic feeling. Overall the single player is well rounded and truly an astonashingly cinematic experience which you cannot afford to miss. Now, to what most people buy COD for, the multiplayer. If you've played COD4, then you will instantly fell right at home with MW2. However, this doesn't mean it hasn't changed. The massive new list of guns, perks, kilstreaks, unlockables will have you playing for years. In all my years of gaming I have never played a more well rounded online multiplayer experience. The multiplayer is genuinly worth the £.. alone. Also thrown into the mix is spec ops mode, which sees you take on a variety of different missions in 2-player co-op (Splitcreen/online) which range from holding down positions against waves of oncoming enemies to snomobile races which are absolutely hilarious! This is a great addition to the game just as Nazi zombies was to CODW@W - but better with more variety. Overall, I serioulsy cannot fault this game. The single player experience is epic and the multiplayer is unrivalled by anything on the market, and with spec ops throw into the mix, this is an absolute MUST BUY.

So close to greatness, but...,

So, so close to being the finest PS3, and possibly even console, game of all time. On the plus side it looks great, plays superbly well, is hugely immersive, varied and hideously addictive.
But... Weill, it's hard to know where to start, but really, the biggest problem with this game is something the developers couldn't really code for - human nature. If MW2 has taught me anything about human nature, it's mainly that a large percentage of us are remarkably stupid, selfish creatures who would rather do something the quick way by cheating than put in any degree of effort whatsoever. Frankly, camping etc don't bother me in the slightest. Quite happy for there to be people with all sorts of different game style, from people who like knives through to granade launchers and gunners, snipers through to shotgun brawlers. But if there's one thing that has all but killed this game as anything other than an occasional distraction it's the outright cheating of so-called 'boosters' - idiots whose idea of a 'game' is hiding in a corner shooting a non-moving target (where do these sados go to meet each other?) to get pretty little symbols beside their names. It's not even as if they've 'won' a game since every other person playing knows what they were doing (If you're scored is 30-2 and your mate is sitting at something like 0-30 there's a fair chance you're a cheating bawbag!) Now, why anyone would want to spend any amount of money doing this is beyond me. Is it actually fun in any way? Why on earth waste money on this game? Let's face it, anyone who sticks up the nuke symbol on their profile is automatically a complete joke now anyway. Still, if nothing else, it guarantees that one of my custom classes will always have Sit Rep, semtex and a grenade launcher equipped - few things are as much fun as finding two cowardly little chums hidden away in a little corner doing what they do when no-one's looking and wiping both out at once. My one wish - developers put enough after care into their games, especially online, to sort these problems as this is an almost worthless product in Free for All at the moment. Get rid of tactical insert, kick people who kill the same person a set number of times, and start banning people entirely from online games networks and eventually from the PS Network itself. Failing that, all I'd wish for is that everyone else in Free for All simply stops shooting each other and gangs up to hunt the cheats out of every game lobby they enter. So much potential in this game - criminally wasted by idiots. 2115|R25MW13I4I0CUB;2115|R2D4CHWD862XOS;2115|RT4G6P1ADQN10;
