Synopsis
From the author of ASKING FOR TROUBLE, a crime novel set in the Cotswolds. A rich lawyer is murdered at his luxurious home, and immediately suspicion falls upon a hitchhiker who asked to be dropped there the previous evening. However, as the police investigate revelations are made about the dead man which temper the official suspicions.

About the Author
Ann Granger has worked in British embassies in various parts of the world. She met her husband, who was also working for the British Embassy, in Prague and together they received postings to places as far apart as Munich and Lusaka. They are now permanently based in Oxfordshire. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

this was the first Ann Granger book i had read and i will deffinatly be reading more in the future.This book kept me guessing right untill the very end.Can't wait to start on the next one !

Slightly different to a lot of the Anne Grainger's that I've read. Markby & Makepeace were for a lot of the book, in the background with Sergeant Prescott being given a prominent role. It would be fascinating to know the author's reasons for doing this. Some of the other characters were great, particularly Kate Drago. I did feel that this simple story got stuck somewhat in the middle section of the book & it seemed to take quite a while for the plot to move on. But the solution was satisfactory and this was an easy read.
