Not a review as such. Very interested in these headphones. Just trying to figure out how in America these headphones are $199 and in Britain they are £199....:L seems legit. However I've heard from others of the quality of these headphones. (So I only put 5 star, so it would let me submit the review)

Your ears will thank you! 7 Dec 2012

Absolutely phenomenal. So great, that I bought a second pair as a backup (how crazy is that, right!). I enjoy alt, rock, pop music, and these headphones excel across the board. I use Bose QC15's for travel (which I consider top notch) and Monster Immersion for exercise (best for exercise), but I will always use the Silverado's whenever I need to take a "mini vacation" and let all my stress melt away. These phones have incredible sound stage, as if actually at a concert. Build quality is excellent. I fully expect these to last a very long time. BUY BUY BUY, you will NOT REGRET!

Like any feedback section you are going to get a slew of bitter reviews from people who enjoy taking something excellent and write lousy reviews about it because... they just like to watch the world burn. You also on the other hand have a handfull of folks who just love to love everything that they buy "Hey this is the best damn thing on the planet because I bought it!". Then there are folks like me who are generally apathetic about a product until it either A: It exceeds your expectations B: Stirs a sense of sypathy for those who wasted years of their lives in the development of a product that will do nothing but momentarily infuriate people...and then ultimately be cast into the garbage.

I am giving these headphones 5 stars because they are an absurd value for the 50$ price that I payed for them on amazon.
Not only are these headphones build like a tank but they isolate external ambient noise well and they sound great. I will spare you the diatribe about what headphones I have owned in my life and how they compare....and the elaborate stories how I am a self proclaimed Jedi Master Audiophile and the single most reputable/regarded source of 4th hand clandestine knowlege obtained from a sound engineer via his WIKI article. No....I am just a guy who has been enjoying rediscovering his music library and my own recordings ever since these "Cans (Audio-Dork term for headphones)" showed up on my doorstep. The Bass is substantial enough to present itself in a respectable manner and does not obliterate the rest of your track. The mids are smooth and the highs are pronouced but do not pierce. The sound and is well rounded and very well defined. The clarity of these headphones is great. They are fairly comfortable ...I have been listening for a few hours and my rather large ears are not hurting. The cushion on the headband looks as if it is there to provide some level of comfort along the headband but I still find myself adjusting the headset from time to time because of some slight discomfort (The only negative that I have experienced thus far).
I realllllllyyyy like the retro build and appearance. I have spent years looking for well built old cans that I can refurbish and use in my studio...these have satisfied that desire and I did not have to waste my time refurbing a classic. One more note about the appearance....the construction is actually all metal as advertised.

It appears that California Headphone Company has struggled to effectively market itself and as a result the exposure of a fantastic product has stalled. It is this factor that increases the novelty of the product for me. These headphones are a really good product that will not be around long. I am contemplating buying a second pair.

cheep knock-offs look on the californiaheadphones . c0m page 14 Sep 2014
By computerg33k - Published on Amazon.com
look at the screw that holds the 'ear cup' . now go to the californiaheadphones d0t c0m web page and look for that screw. This is how knock offs are made. it costs more to set the screw inside and tighten it. when the screw is located on the out side, it's the cheep way of making things. Also look at the gap in the stitching and the hanging threads.
Now look at how 'tight' the stitching is on the http://www.californiaheadphones.com/silverado.html headphones. If the price is too good to be true, then it is!
I love these headphones 27 Aug 2014

I love these headphones. They are bright and crisp without being harsh.Strings and voices sound amazing. As long as your ears are completely covered to create a nice tight seal, the bass really is great. I'm not sure why you would want more bass, unless you think that Dr Dre's Beats are where it's at, which we know is just an exaggeration of what music should sound like. I've had many headphones, in my day, but when I put these on, I keep hearing thing I've never noticed before. They have a nice open sound stage and just sound great. They're also surprisingly comfortable over long periods of time. I've never had to take them off because of comfort. The only problem I had was that the cans and cable aren't labelled L & R, so I had to do that myself. I found them on Amazon for $50, plus shipping and import, to Canada. I took a chance, since I didn't actually get to hear them, I was more than happy. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for great sound and don't mind, what is a fairly large headphone. And they come with a beautiful leather case. Get Your Rock On, or whatever you like to listen to, you won't be disappointed.
Do your ears a favor they will thank you later. 16 July 2014

This are some of the best headphones I have ever owned. They feel great the sound quality is fantastic and for the price they are well worth it. I have used many headphones over the years and I think with the exception of the AKG 240's these are my favorite. If you want a great pair of headphones pick these up you will not be disappointed.

(Disclaimer: They are not light, and are rather big. I don't know if they would be great as out and about headphones due to the size and weight. They are great sitting at the computer headphones. They are also designed with rock music as the focus. Though I have listened to everything I can think of and they sound great no matter what. They do not have the skull thumping bass of amplified headphones (Beats), and don't have the ultra stale highs of Bose. They have a great blend across the spectrum and fill out quite well over all.)
