The Rocket Summer sound like saves the day meet early something corporate, with some ben folds thrown in there. Yes, the lyrics should sound quite cheesey, but the way they are performed just makes them very sincere, even if everybody and anybody can relate to these quite vague songs, you will feel as if they were written for you. This guy has a great voice, and the CD is full of catchy tunes... if you're not afraid of something a little upbeat and poppy, then you should definately get this CD.

wow! when i first heard the artist formerly known as Bryce Avery
at an Ataris gig lately, i was very impressed by his live performance, especially in light of the harsh response from some parts of the crowd. So much so that i bought the alobum from him personally. When i listened to the album i was blown away. Here is a guy who writes, records and plays everything on his own. This album is uplifting enough to make you forget your worries, emotional enough to reduce you to tears and inspiring enough to make you pick up your acoustic and start writing yourself.
'Cross my Heart' is a great, bouncy, uplifting track which really sets the tone for the whole album. 'This is me' has an amazingly catchy piano part and a great plodding chorus. 'Saturday' really shows off Bryce's vocal talents, and the song is really jumpy and puts you in the mood to party.
'that's so you' is a tender acoustic song with heartfelt lyrics and great vocals. The album ends with the confessional 'Tv Family' it shows off Bryce's lyrical talents and tender vocals, it's a great end to a brilliant musical journey.
overall, what can i say? if you like emo music with great melodies then you won't buy a better album this year. Utterly outstanding!

I hadn't heard of these until I went to an Ataris concert a few days ago. The rocket summer were one of the supporting acts and they opened the show. They were awesome, they played about 5 tracks from Calendar days and each one was riddled with brilliance.

I recomend it to any nfg/ataris fan!
