Book Description

Oct 2000
Cat Calder is grief stricken when her young fiance is killed in a car accident. Emotionally devastated and vulnerable, Cat's final evening in town - meant to be spent with close college friends - ends instead in the arms of a handsome, gray-eyed stranger. Nine months later, Cat gives birth to a healthy baby boy and raises him in the protective bosom of her powerful family; everything changes the day a lawman - with arresting gray eyes - arrives in Blue Moon, Montana. Logan Echohawk has never forgotten that night or the beautiful stranger, and it only takes one long look at the boy to know that the brief, passionate encounter had created a child. While Cat struggles to come to grips with Logan's appearance, an enemy's long-smouldering thirst for revenge flares to life, threatening Logan, Cat, and their beloved son. Will Logan's training as a lawman be enough to save his family? And even if everyone survives, will Cat have the courage to chance her heart and love again?

5.0 out of 5 stars great nostolgia as well as a good read 22 July 1999
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
On the Triple C Ranch near Blue Moon, Montana, Cat Calder learns her beloved Repp died due to a neighbor, Rollie Anderson, driving under the influence. When Rollie's parents plead with Cat's father to intercede on their son's behalf he refuses and his mother blames Cat for her son going to jail. Cat drops out of college after attending the University of Texas for the past three years. She says good-bye to her sorority sisters, but becomes drunk. She meets a gray-eyed hunk that reminds her of Repp and they make love. Cat vanishes into the night, but not before she becomes pregnant.

When newly arrived Deputy Sheriff Logan Echohawk sees Cat, he recognizes her as the woman who has haunted his dreams since Texas. She knows he is the father of her five-year old son. She wants nothing to do with him and though he is attracted to her, he plans to honor her feelings. That changes when he realizes that he sired a son with her. Meanwhile, the Anderson siblings plan vengeance on the family they believe destroyed them over five years ago.

Over fifteen years have passed since Janet Dailey released her highly regarded four-book Calder saga. Ms. Dailey returns to Montana with the next generation of Calders as she tells the tale of Cat. The entertaining story line is fun to read as Cat struggles with her belief that her growing attraction to Logan betrays her love for Repp. Though Cat comes across as a spoiled brat rather than a grieving lover, the enjoyable tale will please fans of contemporary romance and those readers who give away their age by remembering the characters who make a return appearance in CALDER PRIDE.

5.0 out of 5 stars Too long coming! 17 Feb 2000
Format:Hardcover
An avid fan of all of Janet dailey's work, I was glad to hear that the calder saga was to continue. The only trouble with this book is that it left me wanting to read more. What will become of Uncle Culley, will Logan and Cat have more children and so on and so forth! I wait to see if Janet Dailey can continue this much loved saga and hope that the next Calder book will be on the book shelf quickly. Failing that I would love to see her with a follow on to the Proud and the Free and Legacies.
