Calculations are not my strong point, and many other Chemistry students that I know feel the same, so I was delighted to find this book. Calculations can't be learnt just by reading, they need practice and lots of it. But all the other textbooks I used were hopeless, with confusing explanations, one or no examples, and maye one or two questions. Calculations for A-Level Chemistry is a God-send. It covers all areas of all syllabuses, from mole calculations to reaction kinetics. Don't be put off by it's dense appearance. Each type of calculation is included, with lots of examples, each with the method clearly explained, and then heaps of pracice questions, with answers in the book. Use it to build up confidence and to practice before exams. It begins with really basic maths advice and practice, so even the shakiest mathematician should be able to master nasty problems with a little work. Being able to perform calculations confidently and correctly can up your grade a great deal, and make you feel much happier when entering the exam hall, so I would say that this book is a must have for any Chemistry student nervous about the numerical side of the subject. It isn't necessarily a simple book, but if you're prepared to work through it with patience, then it will pay off.
